found these bad boys at the local bookoff shop. from 2€ for the standard CDs to 8€ per big box set. probably the best deal I got from that store since ages

was taking a test out in the midwest and found a game/comic/dvd/etc shop, grabbed a few things! they didn't have raw danger though, still on the hunt for that one

they did $40 for the books though!

@IrishNinja I had a few of those guides. the DQ8 one is really good and has a nice texture on it.

@treefroggy it’s so cool! looks thorough, and i was wanting to play this one soon too - just hadn’t decided on ps2 hdd loader/etc or maybe trying like duckstation on XSX, don’t know much about that process though

i kinda wish it was like a poster of the game’s cover or a family of slimes or something but the maps are cool. i put up a good phantasy star 2 one the other week and keep debating dedicating a small section of my wall to cool RPG maps like some weird fantasy cartographer

What is that Twitter that posts FUBAR games with outrageous listing prices and condition tags?

@IrishNinja fyi for those that are interested: Marc Eckōā€™s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is frequently on sale for $1 on Steam.

Went to the Goodwill across the park to get an on-theme bag (read: purse) for my first renaissance faire thingy this weekend, and walked out with a $3 pair of (possibly Japan-exclusive?) King Slime headphones. What a day.

@tokucowboy Well that rules.

Anyone whoā€˜s been to a BOOKĀ·OFF location in the United States knows that they are definitively hit or miss. Soundtracks, games, etc. will be grossly overpriced at times, but you can also find some interesting stuff for as low as five bucks.

Well as of January of this year, there’s now a BOOKĀ·OFF located in LA Little Tokyo! Itā€˜s very small, but really well stocked. There are six bins full of vintage ULTRAMAN and KAMEN RIDER figures, all for five bucks. I got the last Mother of Ultra. There are also things like the Mega Man Legends OST for… $300, and Dragon Quest III Symphonic Suite for like 30 or something.

Tons of loose cartridges, kusoge being sold for $15 more often than not, but still a lot of $5 carts too. I got TENNIS and SQUARE’s HIWAY STAR for five bucks each.

Now there are two locations in little tokyo that sell retro import cartridges for reasonable prices. World 8-2 has them for much cheaper most of the time. The competition will be good to keep prices competitive.

@treefroggy Is World 8-2 in the same location as Retro Game Camp? This was last time I went there 2 years ago during lock down.

I’m still kicking myself for not picking up $100 cib super famicom when they just opened.

Gotta see how long till Bookoff gets to my neck of the woods…

@KennyL Yes. Their grand opening sale was legendary. Japanese thrift store prices… I saw one of those band-aid tin Hudson Bomberman Game Boy games go for like ten bucks.
I worked with the owner of RGC doing freelance repairs and mods and supplied their CRTs. It was awesome, many people who worked there were friends of mine, one time I came in and the owner handed me a tallie of ASAHI over the counter haha. He would take the employees to dinner at local sit-on-the-floor-and-get-your-employees-drunk type establishments. I miss it. I haven’t seen any of them since then. 8-2 still buys from the previous owner, but now an entire half of the store is new US releases for Playstation and Xbox.

Wow Hard Off opened a store under Eco Tek brand in Fountain Valley CA!

You can see more stuff on their twitter @tek_valley40095 (sorry I’m trying no-linking-twitter challenge…. thank you for your patience&;)

They also have ebay store.

@KennyL Shoot, I’m going to LA next week. Well, I’m gonna see if I can get there!!

@exodus This is not that close from LA but good sign for expansion seeing how Book Off is popping up around town.

@KennyL oh I know - but I’m actually staying in seal beach which is quite close! So I’m gonna go there!

@exodus Oh sweet! Please do your IC podcast audio blog if that place is cool enough.

I was excited to see this and was compelled to get it.

@tomjonjon This game rules. And it has never been ported to a Game and Watch Collection. I don’t remember much before 1990 anymore, but I have 1 crystal clear memory of playing that exact model of the game. Hell of a find.

@tomjonjon aw had this one as a kid! i think it may actually be able to be completed? anyway hope you got a good deal on it!

It’s in pretty good shape and it works! I got a great deal on it - it came into a thrift store I volunteer at. I always get amazing prices on things there. A cousin of mine had it when it was new and we spent a few car trips seeing who could get the furthest. Not sure if it has and ending but it does have Bowser as a boss battle.
