ah heck, this is exactly a well meaning parent buying a video game shirt kind of video game shirt!
I found this shirt in the free pile at work once. pretty sure this is a Halo 4 era inside baseball developer shirt (since the tagline for it was “wake up john” ). ive never worn it
OH DANG
I was at a friend‘s house in the early 2000s and somebody was like "huh, so you work in games, do ya? What’s master chief's real name, then?“ and I said ”John.“ and they were like ”john what?“ and I said ”his full name is Master John Chief"
and it became a little internal joke for a while. anyway looks like this shirt confirms my words as TRUTH
yeah, the back story for halo is his name is john, they stole all these children and replaced them clone babies so the parents wouldn't know. the replacement clone children died shortly afterwards.
not a video game but still pretty good

i love to shop at game stop dot com.
There’s an artist in Japan, MOUNTAIN GRAPHICS, who I stumbled upon several years ago now. Was floored by his designs, and was lucky enough to snag two designs for my shop, back when Attract Mode had one (it shut down almost two months ago)…

… Guess how many I sold? Exactly 3 of the Famicom as a Transformer tee, and exactly 1 of “EXEDSTAR SOLDIUS曼蛇 XEVIFORCEZONE 頭脳BEETYPE”. And it’s not like I didn’t try, though I do recall registering for a popular shmup message board, to promote, but they never bothered to approve my membership.
Moral of the story: Americans have terrible taste in gaming apparel. Oh, and btw: MOUNTAIN GRAPHICS’s shirts are now carried by METEOR.

I have only one video game t-shirt, and I get compliments on it almost every time I wear it out and about.

I HAD this Sega Saturn t-shrit, but didn't take it when I moved out of my parents house. Big regret… (not my picture).

I reckon tim would wear that cherry coke one!!!
I think I still have my Sonic 3D Blast shirt somewhere at my parent's. It was way too big for me, fairly generic, and honestly kinda ugly, but was cool to have at the time.
Additionally, one of my favorite shops in Tokyo, Nazo no Mise, does frequent Thunderbox collaborations with different brands. Last year was Sonic the Hedgehog. Just look at these cool clothing/accessories collections! I was particularly fond of the large, pink Amy sweater, and the Eggman shirt.

I used to wear this one regularly. Elephants are cool and you had to break SOCIAL DISTANCING to notice the prince. These were designed by the Katamari staff and every shirt had commentary.
the commentary really makes this! keita takahashi sure hates his success!
Zoomed on over here to register so I can make this post after hearing Jaffe mention this thread on the latest episode of the podcast.
I actually wrote a piece last year on video game tees and how the vintage market (full of hypebeasts and clothes resellers who refer to thrift store shopping as "sourcing") began embracing video game t-shirts within the last few years. _Shameless plug_: You can read it over at [EGM Now](https://egmnow.com/the-allure-of-vintage-gaming-tees/). A lot of those shirts that @adamazing#3301 posted earlier are actually worth a few hundred bucks within that vintage scene. Some of the shirts I've seen in this thread are definitely worth a pretty penny, too.
Anyway, while doing research for that article, I came across a ton of sellers who have some incredible stuff. This guy in Arizona who goes by [Heat Broker](https://www.instagram.com/theheatbroker/) always has some crazy finds from his local Goodwill Outlet. This guy [Cole](https://www.instagram.com/cbsretrots/) I spoke with for the piece started a wild game clothing collection that basically involves him hunting down ex-employees of whatever developers/publishers to ask if they have any tees they'd be willing to part with. This other vintage dealer named [StranStarsBest](https://www.etsy.com/shop/StranStarsBest?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=724620605§ion_id=16207386) has a TON of shirts pre-dating the year 2000. A lot of his old '70s and '80s shirts are in great shape, which is wild considering how old that cotton is.
There's some crazy shirts floating in the vintage scene in general, like this ['80s Legend of Zelda Skate Jam tee](https://www.lokein.com/shop/vintage-80s-legend-of-zelda-skate-jam-nintendo-tshirt/). (What the hell was the Zelda Skate Jam?) Imo, the coolest stuff anyone can find is the promotional tees that were printed in conjunction with local events or one-off conventions, like this _[Street Fighter II_ shirt](https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Street-Fighter-2-T-Shirt-Championship-1992-in-Kokugikan-Model-CAPCOM-/383622824197) I see on eBay/Etsy pretty often.
Erm, anyway, I think a lot of Capcom/Namco shirts are pretty cool. There are ton of old _Street Fighter_ shirts that are tie-dye and look kinda neat and probably trendy for the year 2020.

Also really dig shirts that are mostly white with a single character on it.

that skate jam shirt rules!
Though I will say as someone who (pre-pandemic) went to goodwills across california every other weekend, I'm skeptical that all these Heat Broker shirts came from one goodwill in arizona. that would be more surprising than anything else I'm seeing here!
it is interesting how this thread is fighting to become a legitimate source for information about game shirts despite the initial premise, and I think legitimacy has won!!
@exodus#4084 Yeah, Heat Broker definitely has a few sources, but I don‘t think we’ll ever know what they are for sure. I do think there‘s a benefit of being on the west coast for stuff like gaming tees, but I can’t imagine putting in the work some of these guys do at Goodwill Outlets, standing around for hours and rummaging through dirty piles of clothes in big blue bins all day. Definitely can't imagine doing it in a post-COVID world.
