What do you do for a living?

I spent pretty much my entire 20s having to check my band account before getting raising cane’s so I’m happy that now I do not have to do that when I go to get my fake tofu chicken nuggets cause I don’t eat chicken anymore.

I am a university librarian and parent. Not a university parent, just a regular parent. The parenting and librarianship are not connected except in that I do both.

I worked first as a software developer and architect and later as team lead of software development for a big fashion retailer and online store and two years ago, after 10 years I quit and started my own thing.

Currently I’m working freelance as a consultant for a large supermarket chain, supporting on data analysis regarding their customer loyalty program and app. They hired me to help with their tech problems but I mostly try to get their project management in order because the tech crew is actually pretty competent and only needs time to do their job properly.

Sorry I have to report you. Architect is a legally enforceable word that only applies to building architects. You’re going to jail

This is an industry pet peeve where unlicensed building designers are not allowed to be called architects but you can be sandwich architect at Subway without taking 6 tests and 3 years of experience

All job titles in IT are fantasy names anyway, I didn’t make the rules, sorry!

I kid I kid. I’ve worked at the same place for years, but I have heard that searching for an actual building architect position is increasingly difficult because of software and hardware architect job listings, and SEO

I work in a lab for a hospital. I tend to fill up several orders and solve issues (more than I’d be normal to admit) and attend calls. It’s a boring job, and at times I can sit and do my own writings and things, so…

I’m also a university librarian.

I spend my 9-5 being exasperated by students who want me to do their research for them, and sorting through piles of pulp magazines from the 30s and 40s because they’re super cool and no one else cares about ā€˜em.

It’s a living!

I remotely manage an art team at a mobile games company. I doodle silly nonsense on post-it notes in between working.

I’m a pharmacist. I work in a Specialty setting, which means I am very lucky and don’t interact directly with patients anymore. I mostly prepare drugs for dermatology, chemotherapy, and HIV.

It’s sad how little likes this gets compared to the librarians and teachers. But in this day and age when knowledge and education are valued over profit and revenue, what else can I really expect.

I’m a gameplay programmer. While people are doing the real hard stuff, I get to vacillate between whether 2.4 or 2.45 feels best for a projectile.
