what video game runs deserve a live backing band?

in honor of this legendary Crazy Taxi run at agdq this year: what other game speedruns/real time attacks/high score showcases deserve a live backing band at an event?

This rules!

The Need for Speed: Underground and Tony Hawk’s games come to mind.

Also if my instagram reels and youtube recommendations are to be believed this already happens regularly with Mario Kart and big band ensembles.

I also wouldn’t mind Ridge Racer with a live DJ like Dedeco.

Sunset Overdrive. Its a long one with not exactly the most catchy of songs, but just shuffle bands in to match the vibe of bouncing around and zapping mutants.

And last year, I really enjoyed this Mario 64 run controlled by a drumkit!

I’m glad to see other GDQ heads in here—I almost made a thread but suffered from poster’s paralysis assuming that no one else would be interested!!

I absolutely love that GDQs new meme is increasingly escalating music-involving speed run attempts.

Plus don’t forget speed running dogs.

The drum-controller was already amazing but the level of multitasking required to play the piano, control the game via an arcane method AND comment on your own gameplay at the same time is mind boggling.

Very disappointed to find it was just joycons, not Wii consoles. Still, an absurdly impressive accomplishment.

Brutal Legend

Each band that played a song appearing at a mega Metal Festival and would be the greatest concert line up in history.

Outrun 2006!!! I’m not sure if it’s a by design thing but I find that some of its songs really synch to perfection with your actions in the heart attack mode. I’d love to see a yachty jazz fusion band playing along to it.
