I have seen this game and nearly bought this game but cannot remember the name of it. This is on Steam, right?

I’m 100% certain this publisher has not released a single game on Steam.

Huh, strange. Then maybe it’s not what I’m thinking… Must be one of a very similar art style I’m thinking of.

When this game came out, Gabe Newell was a teenager.

The same Gabe Newell behind Steam? Or someone else?

I don’t know any other Gabe Newell.

The publisher is Nintendo and the game is Sky Skipper.

You’re absolutely correct. It’s Sky Skipper, that other game with gorillas Nintendo dropped at the same time as Donkey Kong. It has an impressive 512x448 native resolution, allowing for wonky sprites of different scales, which makes it look unique to this very day!

I picked the death animation when your plane crashes and explodes into stars covering the screen. Macabre but beautiful.

The number of sprites on screen at once flex on display there!

Two questions:

  1. Is this a licensed game?
  2. Is this a Japanese game?
