theory: it’s the real frank playing some kind of sick game
Hello! i‘m trapperjohnmd and I’m now posting in this introduction page. uhhhh
I like listening to the podcast and right now I‘m slowly watching through “computer” movies, that’s the genre. computer.
Electric Dreams rocked
I‘m steezles a podcast listener and what the panelists would call a zoomer. Big fan of the video games like Godhand, sonic 2, bayonetta, dragons crown, EDF, you name it. They’re all just great
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155475 welcome, now I want the top list of Computer Movies
@“Uli”#p155528 I don‘t have a top list (generally they’re all bad) but I‘ve had a letterboxd list that I add potential movies to that I’ve been watching through slowly, if they fit the criteria they stay on, if they don‘t – deleted! There’s no real organization on it, I plan to do that once I've watched a lot more

@“Steezles”#p155511 they call us zoomers but the boomers are the ones that constantly have to zoom at everything on their phone
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155551 any recomendation is good. I'm just curious and probably will end up watching only one haha
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155551 is a computer movie about computers or does it take place in the computer? I have a lot of cyberpunk movies that are kinda like… in the computer but not of the computer, maybe? Anyway I just found out about and purchased the vhs tape of (lol) the danish movie Webmaster which I am looking forward to watching.
I just love these god darned ancient future graphics

I am extremely desirous of the ability to watch this in danish but I haven't tracked that version down yet.
Hi. I‘m Garrett and I’m just a guy. I‘m 34 and American. I like video games and I like the Insert Credit podcast. I haven’t posted on a forum regularly since like 2014 and those were some of the darkest days of my life so this is a big step for me. You can‘t find me anywhere on social media and I don’t have anything to share. ThankYou.wav
@“[garrett.exe]”#p155598 let‘s make posting on forums in 2024 one of the brightest points of everyone’s lives!
maybe that's a bit ambitious but I think it can be at least a little fun.
the answer of this question is yes, but I‘m trying to focus in on movies that heavily involve interacting with a computer (ideally with a monitor rather than VR) but I can’t cut out the great 90s cg these movies give me.
I have Webmaster on my list. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm excited to get there! I recently watched the Arrow release of .com for Murder and that blew my mind. it was great.
@“exodus”#p155600 I‘d settle for "another thing to look at on the computer while I’m supposed to be working" but hey if it ends up being a life affirming endeavor I won't be upset
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155602 I‘ll check that one out! I tend to be more in the space of Johnny Mnemonic and Nirvana (1997, which I now see is on your list) because the computer knowledge of these “use the computer” movies is always so ridiculous, sometimes in non-funny ways?? I was watching a straight to video movie that I’ve now forgotten the name of where a “hacker” could just get control of your phone and radio and lights and toaster and like… curtain drawing devices? in 1992 when there were no smart devices? without entering the person's house? It was supposed to be this scary big brother thing but I was like “how are they operating this toaster.”
Oh! I remembered, it's Twilight Man. I only made it 15 minutes in. there may not have been a toaster. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117992/
@“exodus”#p155605 Oooh I‘m excited, that kinda hot garbage is exactly what I’m looking for. It's on the list now. And it has Dean Stockwell??? Oh yeah.
But totally, most of these movies were written by people who have no idea what computers are other than magic boxes. I don't know why I started this mission, because a lot of them are incredibly painful to watch, but I've found some fun ones!
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155475 zoomers of insert credit unite
there's like, maybe… 5 of us? …3?
@“Garrett.exe”#p155603 Turns out it can accidentally be a life-affirming endeavor. But that’s just me.
@“trapperjohnmd”#p155551 Always good to see Dark Star in a list of movies! Aside from it being John Carpenter's debut as a director it also inspired my favourite TV show. Hope you enjoy that classic!
@“Garrett.exe”#p155598 hey garrett, welcome. I’m also “back into forums” and for now is taking a chunk of time from my twitter time which is always a good thing.
Also if the internet told me something (so many things actually) is that we’re not alone in this one.
@“Tom of the Fog”#p155641 I saw Dark Star for the first time in theaters 2 years ago. What a great film. I love all of my man JC's movies (even the real stinkers), but that was so fun and funny and ingenious. It immediately became a big part of my personality.
Hi there! I‘m PukingGoombas, I’ve somewhat recently started listening to the podcast. My normal handle seems to be used on the forum already so I‘m using my older one; regardless I came across the Insert Credit podcast through Tim’s Action button videos. Been listening for about a year now and finally decided to join the forums!
I play most genres of videos games but tend to gravitate towards RPGs. Outside of video games I also workout, play TTRPGs, build Gunpla kits.
glad to have joined!
