i got new pokemon snap for my switch, played the first level of it and realized that i haven't played a pokemon game since leaf green and have no idea who any of the pokemon are lol
@Cheddahz#31248 That's why I unfortunately have very little interest in new Pokemon Snapā¦.
I would only want to take pictures of pikachu, all the rest of the ugly new pokemon I would be throwing pester balls at. There should have been another pokemon snap several generations ago.

I am currently being held hostage by a friend who is forcing me to play GTAV Online. Since it's release in 2013, I have only played/watched GTAV at various trap houses, while various levels of faded. I am trying to play single player and enjoy the characters, story, and setting, but my friend is very averse to that. He just.... Doesn't play single player games at all and sees no point to it, lol. He is your typical gamer who values stuff like cross platform play, streamability, and how many friends he can get to play something over other stuff like historical significance or artful design.
What I am most interested in with GTAV is the cultural significance and satire. I have lived in LA since I was fifteen, on the streets, in warehouses, vehicles, park benches, 100% on the fringes of society and neck deep is subculture. I have lived in many different parts/ sides of the city. I have no idea what it's like to play GTAV as someone who's never been here. The replicas of places I've lived is frighteningly 1:1. Living here, especially _living outside_ gives one a social/cultural education. GTAV does reflect the culture, as well as feed into it.
I'm not sure what has already been said about GTAV, but I'd bet there's actually still a lot left to be said.
It's popular among the lowest common denominator, aka the reason gaming sucks, but, it is a masterpiece of culture and worth looking at from an intellectual perspective.
Either way, can't really enjoy it as long as I'm being forced to take part in grindy missions.
The last GTA I played was Liberty and Vice City stories, on the PSP. I was a kid trying to fit in with classmates, didn't play the story, just messed around until I became bored of the game forever.
I'm just really interested in this Satire of 2009 Los Angeles. Those were truly wonderful and magical times in my life.
I'm also interested in GTAV because I'm certain they have lots of satirical content lined up for the next one. My prediction is the next GTA will have e-scooters and Tesla's all over, tons of quarantine stuff, etc.
I'm interested in this normie view of LA from the lens of GTA. As a person, I'm the antithesis to this game, counter to the macroculture of LA while living in it. I drive 30 mph. I'm nonviolent in a community where most people do chose to fight in order to stand their ground against violent threats. So in my autistic way this is expanding my understanding of normal people's perspective. It's also very strange thinking of all the people who play this and have never been to LA and don't get any of these very specific jokes in the game. In many ways, this is a highly accurate portrayal. When I meet travelers at the beach, they often mention GTA.
One major thing I can tell anybody is if this game paints a picture of LA that seems so crazy, it has to be exaggeration, anyone living in any major city in the US can tell you that in fact, in reality, much crazier and whackier things happen every day for real.
IDK, I could write about this forever probably. I want to enjoy story mode at my own pace first. I am very interested in the way the story introduces different areas of the world, and what events take place. It's major spoilers starting in the online game, having friends fly me across the map in their delorean.... But it's GTAV.... I put off playing it this long, so I guess I don't get to keep from being spoiled. Besides, I should take advantage of this situation and enjoy some online gaming. I can always play single player when I'm back off the grid again.
I just tried that Super Bomberman R Online, which is now free on most platforms. It has a nice polished presentation & itās a good-feeling Bomberman (from an extremely casual bombing manās perspective), but man, the load times are rough (at least on Switch). If you're not very good at the game, you very well might have a longer load time than a match, which is not good.
But it was worth a look for the Hudson-ness of it all -- I was far too excited to find that PRINCESS TOMATO is an unlockable character. Put some respect on her name

having a lot of fun with this! check out the trailer it has a great message from the devs!
Started two games today. The first is 428 Shibuya Scramble, and the second Ace Combat 5. The former has been so-so: while I love the mechanics of the game and how wacky it can be, I feel the tone sometimes gets out of touch and it kinda irks me out, although several of its characters have their own charm, so Iām trying to continue in case this gets more interesting (Iām at the 12 hour span, going little by little). The latter have been far more engaging: the controls feel far more complex and fun than in 7, and damn, I feel the quickness and itās more defying than 7, which I think itās a great starting point and more gentler to the user.
I was raised catholic and even I canāt unlearn and forget everything, so, I feel guilty about it, but I am going to be playing either the Demon Souls remake or Returnalā¦ā¦ā¦ probably Returnal first, because I have played Demon Souls before, so no matter how good the remake is Iām not in a rush to play it again. I mostly got it out of it being, you know, one of the only games worth getting for PS5, and I figure I can trade in either of these games if they don't wow me for that new Ratchet and Clank game if the reviews are promising.
It feels like bragging about it given how hard it is to get a PS5 right now! But I'll talk about it if anyone actually wants to hear about it enough to ask.

What i found even more friegting is its the first time I've gotten the uncanny valley feeling from a location.
Driving around and stopping at a location because it seems super familiar, like you think you know exactly what IRL intersection this is supposed to be, but when you stop and look closer you realize that actually something is off, not quite right. And then the feeling that both the IRL location you were thinking of and the fame location are both more nondescript than you realized and you notice the sly magicians trick that has been expertly executed on you.
A very strange feeling!
@xhekros#31891 Iād recommend sticking with Shibuya Scramble if you can. I remember feeling a bit of a slump at around half way through, mainly because I thought Achiās story seemed the longest and most boring, but it really picks up in the second half of the game and it ended up being one of my favourite VN games.
trying to dedicate a little more time to flight simulator 2020 and 3rd party ācareerā apps. I get to do things that may be fun only to me like operate a small time cargo airline
took a job hauling a shipment of spare tires from Aurora, IL to a national guard landing strip somewhere in western WI

heavy cloud cover from northern IL through the entire flight

I'm flying a rented cessna 172 (can't afford to buy just yet, and in fact haven't unlocked the "bank loan" skill on the pilot skill tree)

descended below cloud level to a foggy morning in the driftless region

flew along I 90 to get me near the runway

landed intact (just bounced off once) proving all the haters wrong

I'll admit that this approach was extremely bad by "technical standards"

tonight will be transporting 400 lbs of ceramic figurines (fragile cargo modifier) to brookings, SD (KBKX). 60g payout if I can pull it off. Very exciting
I am maybe midway through Valis III on the Turbo CD and this game is so brutally hard in unfair ways. Itās kind of shocking. And yet I keep playing. Thereās something in the moment to moment that feels perfect. It makes the weird platforming challenge spikes all the more bizarre.
@yeso#32028
@yeso#32028 would honestly just love a yeso flight diary thread
@robinhoodie#32031 #howtoenjoyvalisIII
@sabertoothalex#32037 seconded
had an eventful flight bc it was actually 764 lbs of super rare goku statues, not the 400 I thought for some reason. Not paying close enough attention, which means I fucked up the math re fuel consumption, and was surprised to see this indicator turn on, 100 miles out of KBKX:

luckily I was within range of Granite Falls, MN municipal airport so landed there to refuel
TRAGICALLY, in my hurry to land before running out of fuel, I pulled 1.80 Gs and damaged the goku statues (not too bad though)

Rushed the landing and used almost the whole runway.

Had to pull a U turn to point myself in the right direction. IDK if planes do this irl, but I was a little embarrassed

But it all worked out, crossed into SD as the sun began to set and landed safely in Brookings.

@yeso#32065 This looks great! Iād like to remind you that every successful landing is a great landing! Sorry about the rare $60 Goku that got damaged. The eBay buyerās protection will cover it though.
For some reason I've been playing _Wipeout Omega Collection_ lately. I think the game is fun enough, but I'm certainly not "good" at it. Having steering assist turned on at all times makes my brain itch a bit because I feel like the game is telling me I'm crappy, but I also like, don't care. I think that this game does the difficulty accessibility a bit better than others as steering assist is on by default and if there's an online community, I'm not engaging in it so I'm not ashamed.
@antillese#32084 Zone Mode is fantastic. It is so simple yet effectiveā by its nature it is perfectly tuned to find every individual playerās comfort point, and then progress one notch further to make it feel entirely wild and out of control. Those last moments before ultimate failure are thrilling.
It does not matter if it happens to you on Zone 15 or Zone 150, itāll be a crazy wild fun time where you feel you are just barely hanging on, right up until you no longer are
I'm playing this game called Ori and the Blind Forest off the recommendation of a friend.
the game is real bad lol. I've been playing for like over 2 weeks and only have like 6 hours coz it's so hard to play due to how much I dislike it lol.
it's definitely a mainstream game for mainstream tastes, not my jam at all >_< hopefully I can beat it by this weekend tho, so I can finally play an actually fun game :p
@p3ters#32221 ya it sucks ass lol
