I know it’s a meme at this point, but without something like a general strike coordinated between what remains of organized labor/unions and democrats that aren’t compromised/collaborators with the neofascist regime (a number I don’t care to count for my own mental health), it’s hard to not embrace despair. Our mayor here in nyc is an active collaborator, our governor is a collaborator, our senators are bought and paid for like the rest, and we’re flanked by Long Island & Staten Island (home to the KKK for decades), New Jersey and Connecticut (milquetoast moderates, corporate sellouts). The only thing keeping me partially sane is canvassing for our socialist Zohran Mamdani for mayor, but the fields choked by zionists and otherwise tough-on-crime dems as usual. I know electoralism is the masochists way, but I don’t see anything else supplanting it. What’s gotta change is the formation of a real opposition party.

I don’t think that there is a solution for what we’re going through. Nobody is at the wheel and nobody is in control. I believe that we are seeing a new ubiquitous form of communication that is being used by thousands of people in an attempt to influence us is different directions with out any real and meaningful coordination. The wheel is getting violently yanked by all the influential people you like and despise whose numbers are growing and proliferating this contamination. Nobody can say where we’re heading and nobody has the control to direct us. We are in an out of control state probably until a lot of people are killed. These are my darkest thoughts of today, thank you for listening.
Also I’m not saying these things to be dark. I care about people and see only people who have experienced coercive control early in life that are see what fascist autocracy will be. Fascism is government by hostile coercion of is citizens that are othered by the ones who aren’t. We need to see it. We need to be prepared to get though it. The courts have all but said that they have no way of forcing action on a president that will not listen. The only solution is impeachment and removal which might as well also not be a solution. Trump may or may not know what that power will give him and once he does it’s a matter of time until it’s over. We’re done. We’re under the whims of the cruelest person we have seen have power in the states.

I’d say it’s one thing to acknowledge issues (now and in the past) for sake of awareness and personal action planning based on our own beliefs and needs, but it’s quite another to re-emphasize both realized and potential gloom & doom.
Most of us can agree here that the current political situation in the US is far from ideal. But I disagree in that I don’t believe us going further into the negativity will be helpful to anyone. Especially here (IC forums generally), where we all primarily congregate to exchange good feelings and positivity.
There are ways to discuss geopolitical and social goings-on in a more productive way. So purely speaking as a fellow forum member, my vote is for us all to try and cultivate whatever positive energies & strategies we can in order to empower ourselves and those around us, without exacerbating existing fears and anxieties by constantly talking about how screwed up everything is.

Alright I’ll stop posting about it. But I firmly believe that preparing for what is coming is the only productive way of moving forward. That doesn’t mean doom and gloom so to speak as preparing for doom and gloom doesn’t need to look like negative. But you have to know the darkness before you can built your psychological defenses against it. That can be humor dark or light, it can be distraction, it can be anger it can be sadness and all of the emotions and actions that keep us together. But you can’t ignore the first part to find the way you are getting through it.
I very well could letting my personal and ancestral history bias me, but I don’t think what I’ve said is with out reason.

I never talked about it, but I think that preparing end up sometimes being like a fantasy, so to add to what you said, I think this is the time to take things slow and observe the people around you. I believe in the idea of the flock of birds moving together as an ultimate goal for when things are fucked up, but previous to that we are in the perfect spot for finding who’s on your side and who is able to do X or Y previous to that.
I know it’s not that easy, though.

I don’t want to trivialize the suffering Trump has caused and will cause, what is happeing is extremely alarming and bad. However, the silver lining I see is that it is explicitly showing the cracks in the system, a lot of motivations that were previously hidden are being made crystal clear and the true capacity of the president’s ability to enact structural change at will is being demonstrated. Whoever comes after, if someone comes after, will not be able to hide behind a veil of mediocrity and inaction, there will be an expectation of vast reform to fix what has been broken and hopefully to make it better.
Discursively and ideologically, all standards have been thrown out the window, and that leaves an opening for better ideas and better standards, as well as for worse ones. There have to be enough people that see this moment for the challenge it is and rise up to meet it. To show through their competence and brilliance not only that they are not Trump but that they have a superior vision that will actually tackle their problems instead of creating new ones. The possibility space, the overton window, whatever you wanna call it, for what they might be able to do and say, has undeniably widened. Every risk that poses is also an opportunity.

Removing the “T” and “Q+” from the LGBTQ+ on the Stonewall website along with any mention of the word trans on the page itself is so unbelievably cruel and stupid. I hate these people.
