Since this is excitingly in my area of expertise: HDMI will either work or will not work since it’s a digital signal. If it gets too lossy and the protocol’s forward-error-correction no longer works at the receive end, you just have a “no signal”. There’s no meaningful introduction of latency with a cable because propagation delay over a wire isn’t meaningful to humans.

Introducing a consumer-grade amplifier (which is technically a retimer since it’s in the digital domain) will likely introduce latency. Whether you care about it is a combination of psychology, physiology, and if you are as good at Tetris as @穴 is.

Not a bad price to start with.

Honestly, I’m waiting for Hollowbody tomorrow, but I found this and it looks hilarious:

In general gaming as we know it is changing into a different form. We’re all into old fashioned gaming.

Just saw an old Omega Sapphire Alpha Ruby interview where Masuda said they dumbed down the game and removed difficulty challenges like the battle frontier and made the games more monotonous and easy because “game players these days get frustrated more easily and have less attention because there are so many other forms of entertainment”
Which pretty much sums up the entire past 3 generations for me and why I more or less have skipped them all and only play vintage games now.

Waiting for our demographic to be referred to as the “movie buffs of gaming” rather than “retro gamers”

I was told by a 45 year old man recently that I’ve “got the wrong frame of mind” because I’m not trying to monetize my gaming hobby.

Reminds me of The Game of Sisyphus, which had a little moment with streamers not long ago.

Yes, it is the same mechanic, but I feel this one is more tense and up for the challenge while Pushing it with Sisyphus seems to be more on the comedy/sarcastic side.

God I love listening to that man ramble.

Played the demo for this. Disco inspired, but focuses on inventory management/puzzles

Looks pretty sick. I’ll be picking it up

The Annapurna thing is insane. In short: it wasn’t just an exec shakeup, the entire games division has allegedly resigned.

people usually do that when things are going so well that the company can just coast

i was waiting for the other shoe to drop with them… there was a piece that came out a few years ago about how the film division was being run poorly and was close to bankruptcy, it seemed unlikely that that wasn’t touching the games side of the business too. i imagine that’s why they were trying to spin off into a separate entity.

This looks cool. And it’s free!

Yeah Megan Ellison is like open secretly extraordinarily abusive. Don’t know why she couldn’t be nice, take dad’s money and make Phantom Threads for thirty years but whatever.

This is cool, but I have to warn that the english translation is real bad. I don’t know if improvements are coming any time soon though.
