If I’m in my own home, definitely little too cold. There’s nothing I love more than cozying up in a blanket with a cat on my lap. However, if I’m out and about I don’t like the cold at all. I can’t bring my blankets and cats out on these cold streets.
I’m a bit confused. The way the first part of the question is worded suggests there is nothing we can do about the temperature and that we must choose between being too cold or too warm without, say, putting on extra layers for the cold or stripping down for the heat.
The cold is easier to deal with if I can put on extra clothes or a blanket etc, but if I have to suffer one state of discomfort I would rather be a little too hot. When too hot I can still do things, but too cold makes me want to just go back to bed (which is also a little too cold per the rules).
My big wizard hands stay cold all winter and I’m fine with that. Romantic partners have said I’m an oven. So apparently I usually feel a little cold because I radiate heat. It’s my optimal state.
Sorry no, you have all the modern conveniences for the purposes of this question!
I have another question! The steam deck LED version is on sale and I don’t have one.
Should I:
- Get an LED steamdeck
- Wait and get an OLED one
- Get something else that also runs steam games
I don’t have a steam deck yet, but I’m saving for an OLED because I know I’ll vastly prefer it. It’s not just the screen, they changed the battery.
The AC is loud whereas the heating makes no sound at all. Easy choice.
However, it is -20 today and that is perhaps a little too little too cold for me.
much rather be a little cold because being a little hot is enough to make me want to die
how does it work on the starship enterprise when Captain Picard goes to sleep who covers the 2nd and 3rd shift? Riker works the same hours. Is it Data because he is a robot and doesnt have to sleep?
I’m guessing any deck officer can supervise the deck during other times, and it depends on when their watch comes up. While we regularly see the main cast (including, eventually, Counselor Troi) acting as deck officers, others in the crew are also deck officers. We know the Enterprise-D runs on a three-shift rotation because of that Picard-says-there-are-four-lights two-parter with Admiral Jellico, where Jellico wants to put the Enterprise on a four-shfit rotation and no one else likes it.
As for observed or mentioned night watch service, Lieutenant Commander Data sometimes serves on the night watch (see Data’s Day, where he serves in the night watch; he’s also second officer, so that fits). Dr. Crusher also noted in Thine Own Self (the episode Counselor Troi got her certification to serve on watch) that she likes taking the night shift sometimes. I know Commander Riker is supposed to be responsible for setting crew rotations; it’s possible that everyone has to serve a nighttime rotation sometimes.
I might have to leave this forum. Heat is where its at
Incidentally I should note that me waiting for a sale on an OLED steam deck means another year of not playing PC games. So factor that in!
I have my original LED deck and no desire to upgrade until that thing falls apart. If you’re not going to play handheld often and hook it up to a screen, my preference for gaming, then you’re fine. If you’re going to really want a fully portable machine then maybe it’d be worth waiting.
Of course if you do, then the OLED will be discounted when a new model comes out and you’ll have to do a whole new pole!!
Getting one changed how I can now play video games and I swear by it!
the only thing i can say is i never considered myself a “tech” or “specs” guy, but now that i have the oled deck, i find myself rebuying certain games i already own just to play it on that screen
This makes my vote more difficult because I want to vote LCD now, as any Steam Deck is better than no Steam Deck.
I still vote OLED because that’s what I have and can only speak to. But seems like LCD owners are just as happy.
What’s your butter* situation? I just go with the standard (to Americans anyway) pound of unsalted butter, but there’s a big world out there.
*for this question, I am also okay with answers that are not butter in the strict sense. Vegan butters and margarines welcome.
We get four sticks (a pound) at a time, usually salted butter. One is sacrificed to a butter dish for use in spreads on breads, and the other three are utilized in baking.
I purchase a pound as well in 4 sticks of salted organic butter. We don’t bake a lot but even if we do i’ll take my chances with the salt. The butter is mainly for my partner. I buy random vegan butters that are all sufficient but not exactly good. I try to find ones without coconut oil cause there’s a lot of that in vegan substitutes and I suspect its not good for you. The palm fruit ones taste good but I don’t want to chop down more palms. And the oat ones are too oaty. I’m already eating oatmeal and drinking oatmilk with my coffee I don’t need triple oats at breakfast.
Salted butter always for me. Even if the recipe says unsalted butter I’m just gonna take my chances.
salted butter for sure.
@exodus OLED is the way to go, worth it for the additional battery life + that screen is immaculate. you’ll be glad you waited.
