Comradery by way of PUNCHING- The Street Fighter 6 Club Thread

I bought this game today and am really enjoying it so far. Someone played casual with me and kept destroying me but lucky for me they didn‘t get bored. I was able to pull a few wins near the end so maybe I was getting better (or they felt bad). I’d be happy to play with others but if the clubs have a membership cap or what have you, then I probably should get a spot lol

Sounds fun! Thank you for creating this @KingTubb! I also love the idea of restricted matches (Sweep & Throws, Zangief-only, etc).

Just to add, that I chose weekends for the best times for tournaments, but weekend evenings and nights (eastern time) generally work best for me.

Thanks!

@palo I set the cap to 50, which is more than enough, but I can up it to 100 if need be! JOIN US

Triangle Square is… up in the club!

To join a club, hit start, go to CFN and you can search for the club. I had to look it up.

I haven‘t had much time to practice with Zelda and a home remodel project but I’ll join! thanks for making this club.

I‘m getting into this slowly. I’ve started with Juri despite never playing as her before and she‘s a learning curve for a newcomer. I was getting beaten comfortably when I started online but as my evening has gone on something has clicked with they character and I’m beginning to get more confident with her and have been winning more matches.

IT'S TIME: WELCOME TOURNAMENT INCOMING!!

As of last night, we have 10 members of the club! Woo hoo!

10 members means we have enough people to fill a bracket, so a bracket we will fill.
Looking at the poll, looks like most people are available on Thursday evening or the weekends.
As it stands, tournaments will either be held **Thursday starting at 8PM EST** or **Sunday at 8PM EST**
I'll create a smash.gg bracket by EOD this Sunday depending on when most people are available.

Just something to keep in mind: the 18th-the potential first tournament date- is father's day. So if you're a dad or your plan to hang out with your dad, keep that in mind.

I think we'll just run a simple first tournament: No special rules or silly stuff. IF we want to, we could run two tournaments: a normal tournament, and a "fun-time-silly-rules" tournament. Since we don't have a ton of people, it would be pretty easy to do, plus everyone gets more matches!

I'd like to stress: If you're a beginner, you are very welcome. Checking out the club, it looks like most of us are in or around Iron/Bronze. So we don't have any JWongs or Sonicfoxes in the group (YET!).

Joined the club. Proudly wearing my ICDritbags sweatshirt around Metro City.

@Karasu to be honest, even a half hour a day is more time than a lot of people get to play their fighting games.

I do understand not having enough time is a real reason to not get it or be interested, but don’t let that hold you back! The training mode is easy to use and you can truly make more progress in a shorter amount of time than you might expect.

@LeFish For what its worth I think Juri definitely has a harder starting curve. I played her during the last couple betas and while I felt her strengths (fantastic movement and buttons) you can also really feel the damage differential.

What I mean is that she doesn’t really have “good” “easy” damage compared to other chars. She has great damage but it takes some work to unlock mechanically and do consistently.

So if it’s starting to feel good and click that is great! You can build a lot on top of that as you go (I’m planning on cycling back to her but for now I’m a Manonite).

@KingTubb Won’t be attending the first few because of scheduling things with non-gaming aspects of my life, but I’m excited to join casual sets as they appear. I saw a live @Karnovski “in person” last night! He was also “up in the [battle] hub”!

Speak for yourself. I’m a pretty big deal around here. I’ve got two characters in Iron 2. :muscle:t2::face_with_raised_eyebrow:

@antillese oh did you watch me play a few? I was getting demolished last night.

@Karnovski No. Just saw you online, sent you a message, pinged you in the Dirtbag Channel, fast traveled to your location, emoted at you a bunch, then wandered off because you didn’t see me because you were grinding sets. &;

Ahh so glad to see this exists. I’ll join once I’m home, same name as here.

What's the best way to git good? Training mode? World tour? Casual matches?

@mindleftbody All three. Go start scrolling through the general “fighting games are so great” thread. But you’ll never get better without putting yourself out there and being willing to lose! It’s OK to lose!

The character guides are quite good too if you want some ideas of how to do some setups and how the characters work. Bonus: they’re presented as though the character you’re playing is teaching you their kit

@antillese oh lol, I had no idea, nor did I see the message, hmm.

I‘ve joined the club; thanks for setting it up! I’m playing avidly and improving slowly. I picked up E. Honda as my main and I'm headbutting my way up and down the Bronze rank. Happy to join a Battle Hub anytime for some casual sets!

@mindleftbody Training mode is a great place to figure stuff out and build muscle memory. SF6’s training mode is really robust and it has some nice “one menu choice” common things to practice against. As others have said the combo trials and character overviews are also helpful too.

However it is also easy to dwell in training mode. Gotta put whatever you’re working on through live fire exercises before its gonna sink in. It’s also how you figure out what problems you need to solve.

Casual/battle hub matches can be great for that because you can run long sets and really practice what you’re working on. It can be difficult and counter intuitive but for most matches you should be trying to practice something rather than just win. By focusing on specific things you’ll build the skill base that will eventually lead to the wins.
