Different representations of real world places in games

I’ll pull a better screenshot when I have my Switch with me, but this is Cresson Castle in La Pucelle: Ragnarok. It’s not 100% Neuschwanstein, but it’s not that far off in roofing, and the island location brings in elements of Mont St. Michel (below).

Likewise, the US region SOTN cover uses Mont-Saint-Michel too!

Oh my gosh, I’ve never noticed that. That’s hilarious.

It’s not visually represented, so not sure if it fits this thread, but I’m amazed that I’ve seen two separate games where places were named after Jylland/Jutland, the local region in Denmark where I grew up.

In Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2, the region in Ivalice the protagonist is magicked to is called Jylland.

And in Valkyria Revolution the heroes are fighting for the independence of their country called the Kingdom of Jutland. The protagonist even has a dorky Danish surname.

I can’t describe how weird this comes off as. It’s like calling your fantasy setting Kansas or something along those lines.

A few of the many variations on Shibuya’s 109 Building:

The World Ends With You (104 Building)

Kingdom Hearts (104 Building)

Persona 5 Strikers (105 Building)

Tokyo Mirage Sessions (106 Building)

I actually went to this building when I went to Japan earlier this year because I thought that it must be very important if it has appeared in so many games. But it’s kinda just a department store
