@“chazumaru”#p62064 I haven’t really followed the conversation here since I am too damn busy playing the game but if anyone has trouble with the notorious General Radhan, just ping me this weekend, I always enjoy this fight.
Don't ping me, though. I'll be doing something more calming, like walking on hot coals (just kidding, I mean, I got as frustrated as I get with these games but still loved it on some twisted level)
@“Gaagaagiins”#p62059 it does not! However it “at dwindling levels of hp, this shield slightly boosts both attack and defense” - so kind of a red eye ring effect!
@“Gaagaagiins”#p62066 Well I did not enjoy it as much on the moment but I camped in front of his fight last night to decompress after a long solo session (finishing? the Rani questline) and to check how feasible co-op was there.
>!
I was quite surprised to find out :
1. It’s possible to summon players and still summon the all NPCs in the arena! I was really surprised about this; I thought it was an either/or situation. The body count thrown at him with one or two additional human players makes it really tough for him due to DPS and aggro confusion.
2. I remember his patterns so well, due to spending 90min or so repeating the same fight, that it has become surprisingly trouble-free. We succeeded three of the four times I was summoned, and I guess by that point the summoners had learned about his most dangerous patterns, the approach, the “Valstrax surprise” etc.
3. I thought it would be really tough approaching him on foot but he mostly locks on the main player at the beginning of the fight, which makes it both safer to approach him as a WP and easier to aggro him before he gets a chance to throw his arrows barrage.
4. Wasn’t doing it for the runes but the fight actually pays well as a White Phantom.
Maybe I just like the fight because it feels so much like a Monster Hunter fight.

@“treefroggy”#p62068 Now since I’m way overpowered for that area I accidentally killed the NPC inside
It’s waaaaaay later in the game but FYI, you should eventually find a rather rare but non unique consumable item which allows reviving characters. So not all hope is lost.
a general reminder to everyone but prompted by @“treefroggy”#p62068‘s distress: you won’t permanently lose access to an NPC‘s store if you kill them, just give the ball bearing they drop to the twin maiden husks at roundtable hold. won’t bring back any dialogue or other interactions you could have had while they were alive so this is not a mechanic you necessarily want to use deliberately unless it‘s a unless it’s just a basic vendor you'd rather not have to haul ass around the map to visit again for items (and you have colder blood than a literal reptile).
@“chazumaru”#p62069 @“chazumaru”#p62069 I think my main remaining gripe with the fight is those goddamn ||four floating/homing balls that appear in Phase 2 and will home in on you at Mach 4 from across the dunes if you‘ve got Radahn’s attention when they are ready to launch (which seems to occur at a random time during other attacks.|| I figured everything else out well enough but I could not figure out a reliable way to deal with them other than ||running the hell away and letting the revelry pals deal with him until Radahn fired them at someone else.|| Just one took off like 95% of my health bar (unless I hadn't used a Rune Arc in which cause it was always a 1HKO), which is a big problem ||since there are four.||
Maybe that means I was a bit underleveled? I am around level 60 and had around 20 VIT. I just watched a couple of Youtube videos of the fight to see if anyone can survive getting hit by that attack--one video just killed him before he used that attack and another was just ||perpendicular strafing with Torrent which allowed them to slip right through their tracking, but perhaps at a much closer distance than I dared.||
@“Gaagaagiins”#p62073 Yes I would agree those pose the biggest threat by far in the fight. I believe a key aspect of this fight is how quickly and how much can you damage the Boss before >!the Valstrax/Meteor attack!< as, from my own experience, he only accesses the most annoying attacks of his toolset as a “second phase” after that specific attack. Typically he has a chance to launch it around half his health bar but, if you can apply good DPS with blood, frost or rot, you can get him down to around 25% in the “first phase” and then the goal is to kill him as quickly as possible before he gets to use his most deadly attack.
Lv.60 should be fine but overall level doesn’t really mean much in Souls games so rather it depends on your main weapon’s attack score and which conditions you can apply. I’d say 350 base attack is a minimum and inflicting frost is also super helpful, as against almost any boss (remember you can apply coating on most blades if you don’t have any elemental weapon). Rather than using precious grand runes, you can focus on items that boost power (like grilled meat) and items that boost defense (like boiled shrimps). Shrimps can be bought from a NPC loitering around the lake region.
@“chazumaru”#p62071 Thank you chazu-chan I have plenty of celestial dew and tried going to the church to absolve my sin but it said I have no sin to absolve….
Also I can’t get Ranni to show up in her tower but I also haven’t killed Radahn yet because there are still two phantom NPCs standing at the festival gate that I haven’t found and I want [need] them all to be present before I continue. Any hints as to where the plump sort could be? I have Alexander, Blaidd, and an unknown chick there. Also speaking of plump sort I fought the portly sort godskin noble today… oh my god… Not just a callback but building off of the plump sorts the likes of The Adjudicator and Smough… it was beautiful and a fun fight.. I helped 5 people defeat it before I did it myself because I was clean out of rune shards.
@“kory”#p62025 From my experience you don‘t have to be precious with the keys unless that’s what you're feeling. I bought every key I came across and went in every key door I came across and I think I had close to 20 keys still on hand when I finished.
@"treefroggy"#p62068 It might not be the same exact problem, but I'm using the same controller and have had issues w/ it and Elden Ring. I leave the game running whenever I'm coming back to play in a bit, because it like to not detect my controller half the time I start up the game. It's made my disgusting amount of hours played look even worse.
I'm trying out encantions right now. Can someone help me? Am I missing something? Is there just the up button to toggle through ALL dozen incantations I have equipped? If there's no way to hot button stuff I'm probably never playing magic users. Only having the four quick access buttons to items already felt limiting.
@“treefroggy”#p62079 I have Alexander, Blaidd, and an unknown chick there.
I had the same group. Was very disappointed that I had never seen the other two… Never found them since, either, so I probably missed them (although I recently got a "hint" which questline they belonged to). But they will still all take part in the festival, in case this is what you worried about.
@“chazumaru”#p62081 I do believe there is one npc who will show up to the festival if you’ve met them first - I didn’t meet them until after I’d done the fight and they weren’t there. I’m talking about ||Patches||
@“fridgeboy”#p62083 I do believe there is one npc who will show up to the festival if you’ve met them first
Yes but my understanding is this is precisely the character accidentally slain by @"treefroggy"#449 – anyway that character would not appear in the hall before the fight (unless they are very well hidden somewhere in the background?).
>
@“Syzygy”#p62086 he “returns to his world”.
I assume it’s obvious in the English version as well but this is a hint that the character in question basically nopes out of the fight and leave you on your own as soon as they assess the unpleasant situation to which they have been summoned. Pretty clever joke!
I have had a lot of trouble summoning for the minor bosses in the game. But today I was able to summon two helpers for the Rykard the God Devouring Serpent boss. Just all 3 off us spamming this game's version of the Storm Ruler. Amazing stuff.

I was generally too preoccupied to be watching him closely enough to see him do it. I just assumed that he was getting one shot and his sign wouldn't reappear, which, to be fair, was already pretty funny.
I made it to the (boss) >!Fire Giant!< and I‘m having such a bad time with it that I’m feeling pretty done with the game. Even the youtuber “cheese strat” isn‘t working!! There’s nothing left that I want to explore at this point, I'm just bashing my head off of this. UGH
