The Power Rangers introductions reminded me that I've been meaning to rewatch Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, the specific Super Sentai season which was eventually adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It is sooo good, and also bonkers. Like, the Megazord is God, Rita Repulsa is a devil worshiper and is responsible for killing the dinosaurs, it owns so hard. I watched it about five or six years ago when the Shout Factory DVD came out and it completely supplanted all my nostalgia for MMPR. So yeah, screw Jason David Frank, Shiro Izumi is my Green Ranger forever
Also my thought for worst movie to license as a beat-em-up would be Gran Torino

struggling to think of a bad idea for a beat em up, but instead thought how great a 3 stooges one would be. You have all the stooge moves ready to go. Shemp would be unlockable. Curly Joe would be a secret character
Felt like for a few years everyone was trying to get anyone to play “Johann Sebastian Joust” but the only places this was available were game development conventions when someone thought to bring a PS3 and enough move controllers.
That‘s an interesting game because if you were a game developer who attended conferences it was ubiquitous - you just couldn’t get away from the thing, it might as well have been the most popular game in the world. But in terms of actual sales I doubt your average human has even heard of it.
You discussion of setting the right vibe for game playing was very depressing, thanks. 80 minutes? I haven't had 80 minutes to sit down with a game in 3 years.
Best Videogame Day, however, was the time I acquired a Gameboy and several games during a boy scout multi-troop campout. One of those games was Final Fantasy Adventure, and that weekend it rained, so I spent the entire weekend in a tent playing Final Fantasy Adventure while it rained. @marlfuchs2#16684 also i finally looked it up, I had gotten stuck in this game and it turns out you can run low on keys or other items and get full-on stuck in the game at certain areas and in my situation it was after a save point so I have to start the entire game over again.
