the Sátántangó of video games = Pathologic 2. How so?
* the game quotes a couple notable shots from the film
* both game and film have 12 part structure
* both portray dense and complex social relations in a small, isolated town
* both have a 'return of the native' type character catalyze simmering tension/dynamic in the town
* both the film and the game make considerable demands of the audience, both are fairly grueling but give you the sense of having had an experience and come out the other side
* thematic focus on political ideology vs individual greed or opportunism
also has broader similarities to Tarr films: werckmeister and Turin horse too
@“esper”#p51796 Dirtbag Andy Douseman asks: What is the using a shaving brush and shaving soap instead of a electric razor or disposable razor with canned shaving cream of video games? (22:45)
Esper - you transcribed my German name phonetically, and I can't fault you to correct it because **this is an amazing answer**. Its like you all did a perfect psychological analysis of Game Player me. Or you think that I would appreciate the conceptual aesthetics of going to great lengths to play _Tingle Tuner_ or _Asuka 120% Limit Over_ because I post on this forum. I do.
Thank you Esper, Alex, Brandon, Tim, and Frank for the fun Christmas present.
And before any of you think that I'm some kind of poseur (one who "poses"):

I did recently replace the brush because it wasn't badger and it fell apart and I got a synthetic one to be kinder to badgers. But the razor is like 11 years old and rules. (Sorry about the water scale. Our neighborhood has very hard water.)
My Satantango of videogames might be The Long Drive, a game where I have spent about 8 hours driving nowhere, and yet I cannot stop [upl-image-preview url=//i.imgur.com/oUpOtzc.jpeg]
@“Yeso”#p51802 be fooled not, Dear Reader; this is but one small part of a year(s)-long strategy to turn the topic of all conversation to Pathologic 2.

(Or be fooled! And come along for the ride!)
To be fooled into wisdom... it's like we're out on the steppe already, [Dүү](https://pathologic.fandom.com/wiki/Steppe_Language)!
@“rejj”#p51820 in my defense, it's an apt response to the prompt and also I waited a full hour after this thread was posted before replying. Didnt want to be the first post but I had no choice…
.... $9.79 usd right now at gog ! https://www.gog.com/game/pathologic_2
Spoiler Alert: If it turns out we don‘t have time for the Console Ranking this week either, the plan is to do “The Dirtbag of Podcasts, Part II.” We’ve still got 21 more of these to get through.
The part seven minutes in where I call Bob Dylan getting the Nobel Prize a “travesty” is an in-joke just for my mom, who does listen to the show every week, when her friend's kind-of pretentious son described it as such
the Shake Shack of video games is Killzone because they went super hard at the HALO KILLER moniker and extremely did not even come close to earning it
btw they opened Shake Shack in SF and the peninsula some time ago and just plopped one into downtown Oakland....I haven't been to that one yet. The burger wars are miserable. Who cares
