I haven‘t listened yet but I find it hilarious that with Tim in charge the first topic doesn’t even start for 20 minutes. Someone bring in Strangers of Paradise because I can feel the chaos.
this episode is a little wilder than most. everybody had hard deadlines, ash literally sent off her Activision article on the Verge seconds before jumping into the recording, and some audio problems all made it a frantic situation. but it is a certified Good Time with both breezy hangout and high energy moments.
I read Tombs of Atuan last summer and it was excellent. Just before listening to this episode I was thinking of starting a thread about books that hit you hard in the brain and made you feel or think new things, so kinda right on topic.
A book I like is **Lord of Light** by Roger Zelazny. Have your read it?
And @"DavidNoo"#503 zelazny is one of those dudes whose books I've seen so much that I'm not sure if I've read them or just seen them around?? Can't remember!
@“DavidNoo”#p65811 Inadvertently responded to your prompt in the mortal enemy of video games thread RE how Philip K. Dick blew my mind as a teenager (and still kinda does today).
@“exodus”#p65832 I think he‘s most famous for the Chronicles of Amber stories but I haven’t read em yet! A friend of mine stumbled upon Lord of Light and was so giddy with glee he casually passed it off to me without too much exuberance so that I wouldn‘t be turned off from reading it. I’ve seen it pop up a little bit here and there but seems largely unknown.
Beethoven‘s 2nd: The Quest for Pups was set to release Fall 1994 for the Genesis.
which is 3 years earlier than Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (1997)
According to Frank Beethoven’s 2nd: The Quest for Pups is a Metroidvania
if we lived in a timeline in which
Beethoven's 2nd: The Quest for Pups **was** released
we may well be calling the genre
Beetroid or Methoven.
yes meth oven.
