It‘s probably some kind of heresy to comment before finishing listening to an episode, but I really enjoy merritt’s contributions to the show. Always glad when she makes an appearance!
@“Jaffe”#p144817 Today I learned that my mom has thought Brandon was Frank and Frank was Brandon this whole time
As in physically? Occupation-wise? Had they met your mother in person previously? Did she think that Brandon looks like a "Frank" and Frank looks like a "Brandon"?
I have always been of the opinion that Mark McDonald looks more like a guy who would be named "John Ricciardi" and John Ricciardi looks more like a guy who would be named "Mark McDonald" (both of 8-4 fame).
@“Jaffe”#p144817 I‘ve had this experience listening to one or two episodes of a podcast, but it’s very fascinating to imagine it lasting for dozens or even hundreds of episodes in your mom's case!
@“saddleblasters”#p144837 I’ve had this experience listening to one or two episodes of a podcast,
I've listened to a couple episodes of @whatsarobot's manga podcast and I still can tell which of the guys talking is him. it's funnier when you know one of the hosts from somewhere else cause I'm just waiting for one of the voices to mention being Canadian in order infer who's who
@“esper”#p144809 TNT’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas ft. Phil Hartman (1994)
Glad people noticed this one! Here's a copy in 1080p. Apparently it was on the How the Grinch Stole Christmas DVD.

and if you want the real 1994 experience, here's the TNT airing with commercials.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, and I’ve had the “can’t tell which person is talking” phenomenon a couple of times, but it never lasts longer than an episode or two for me. If I end up listening to more than that, my brain always ends up figuring it out. I’m happy about that.
Some candidate answers for correct answer to the best licensed video games soundtrack is either Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, Def Jam fight for NY, and yes MGS V is pretty good. Death Stranding is excellent.
Also, The Offspring isn't great, but they definitely aren't that bad. There are so many worse, less put together bands - sugar ray, everclear, everlast, Godsmack, Disturbed nu-metal failures of the 90s. "The Kids aren't alright" is at least one good song by offspring. Also, yes, the lead singer got a phd in molecular biology which is very cool.
RE: tim celebrating Frank Sinatra. Frank Sinatra is the most boomer artist. Every adult republican I know in the state of Mississippi, where I grew up thinks he is amazing, because he has MAGA vibes, and would/did definitely punch a lady. They think he classy - ike jazz(music they won't listen to because its proximity to blackness). The dude is talking - not singing. Fuck Frank Sinatra. Nothing screams republican to me like the song "My way". I can't tell you how many times I've heard a Trumper singing it at Karaoke. Its like a pass-time here. And yes, even if I separate associations from the music. Again, he is just talk singing.
