I appreciate Jaffe‘s honesty and bravery in this message in the end of this episode. I too have had to deal with the pressures of moving to a new city. Sometimes you forget why you’re there or how you even got there. It‘s led to my feeling shy and lacking confidence. It’s sad because one of my abilities is to light up a room in the right circumstance. Now it feels like I‘m in a trance all the time, my eyes have gone yellow from stress. Sometimes I see others like myself, but I can’t get through to them, and I don‘t want to be like them. My doctor said to lift my spirits I should go see the play “I Want to Be Your Canary” while it’s in town, but the dang ticket I bought was a counterfeit. I worry that I'm alive, but never truly living. Any advice?
The Riddler in Batman Forever already figured out the console giant leap issue in 1995. Just beam those games directly into our brains. What are we doing with these boxes - it even aesthetically works for the Xbox colour scheme.
Th conversation around returning ancient evils and game design makes me appreciate Final Fantasy X even more.
You're main quest is obviously visiting all the temples to get the power to defeat the returning evil. While you're going on this journey you're meeting the crusaders who are trying to tackle the problem of Sin from a different angle with mixed results. And a lot of the drama is obviously centred around these two different approaches.
Obviously without spoiling anything the later portion does some interesting stuff with those tropes. So yeah in a weird way it's both a story about repeating the past but also tackling the issue of ancient evils with a new perspective as if it were occuring for the first time.
Before hearing the episode, I assumed the title was riffing on The Third Man. I would watch an edit that replaces Orson Welles' character with Knuckles the Echidna.
