I haven‘t played FF16 so can’t speak on the subject much but hearing all the front & back handed praise for the game I‘ll look into picking it up when it’s on sale. I do enjoy some character action and a DMC going for over 100 hours sounds like it could get really stupid (affectionately)

For the “continuing a series under a new name” question two come to mind.
Takashi Nishiyama directing the original Street Fighter and then going to SNK to direct Fatal Fury as his take on a successor to that game. Pretty wild Capcom did their own SF II that ruled and Fatal Fury was a great series in it's own right.
And then there's West and Zampella's Medal of Honor: Allied Assault team forming Infinity Ward and making their own WW II game, Call of Duty.
