would anyone here be interested in a final fantasy xiv thread in particular? i’m kinda gauging interest of that sorta thing, but if not i can keep it here ^^
but what’s everyone up to in xiv? i haven’t been doing a whole lot - i think the remainder of my time up until dawntrail is probably going to participate in whatever events happen to pop up and mount/glam farm old savages.
I’ve mostly just been gposing, lol, but I’m hoping I can get started next ween on leveling the several jobs I haven’t gotten to 90 yet to wrap that up before Dawntrail
honestly I got fired from the video game last year (I’m a DRK main but i wanted to try healing savage raids oopsy) so I’ve been on an extended break, but my FC is trying to get things rolling again so once my work schedule alows down i might jump back in and explore all the stuff i missed/work on my craftie jobs before dawntrail comes along
personally i think sprout drip is totally cute but the dungeon gear starts to get good when you get to heavensward. otherwise… you can find everything a girl needs over at the FFXIV online store mogstation mall
Putting my reply to @treefroggy’s post here. My top FF endings, no order:
IX (ugly crying time)
VIII (still technically dazzling and the home movie was super cute)
VII (classic stinger)
Oh shit, it’s just the PSX entries. I’ll add one more
I (A CRYSTAL SHINES WITHIN EVERY HEART)
For that matter, Stranger of Paradise sticks its landing with aplomb, silencing haters everywhere.
Honourable mention to the high five at the end of X, and FFXIII’s which was just a very satisfying happy ending that those characters deserve and earned. No I haven’t played the sequels yet.
Top FF endings I don’t remember:
IV
X-2
Also FFXIV update: my adventurer is still really hot
All I need to remember about IV’s ending is the Final Fantasy Main Theme plays, and I think like VII there is a starfield, linking the two.
I think it’s a detractor if they don’t have the classic FF theme playing at the credits (or not at all? I need a list of games it is or isn’t in). It’s like the inverse to dragon quests opening theme, even though it also works as an opening theme too like in FFXII.
Ok then so the thing linking FFIV and VII’s ending is the star field background of the credit scroll. I knew there was something
in I and III the theme plays early on in what you’d call the prologue.
in IV the theme song plays midgame.
so FFV was the first time it played at the end.
games that didn’t have the song at all:
Final Fantasy II aka SaGa 0
X
XIII
@captain somehow remembers that 8 is the only one I’m saving for a rainy day. I have to finish DQ V and VI before I play FF VIII.
dang so they basically had an unbroken streak from V through IX
It’s very weird how they just don’t use it at all for certain games.
Now I’m listening to Yoko Shimomura’s version from XV!
I have just feasted and you can too. I watched all of these but skipped over FFII to save myself from spoilers.
I was introduced to this guy in the pokémon thread where @Tradegood has posted a couple of his videos. They’re a super thoughtful retrospective with about twenty minutes paid to each mainline entry and will be going all the way to XVI.
Most importantly, he had nice things to say about FFVIII.
Final Fantasy XII story question I’ve just been thinking about: what was the significance of Vaan’s being able to see the Occuria’s phony Rasler apparition in Raithwall’s tomb as well as Ashe
but then seemingly losing that ability later in the game?
PS I remembered this great heart-to-heart the two of them have in Jahara on the subject that I found again while scrubbing around to find some exposition that maybe answers my question. I liked Bobby Edner’s Vaan! I think he gets some great moments to play off the other characters.
