Hello forum friends,
The moderation team is recruiting additional moderators for the Insert Credit forums. We’d like to bring 2-3 onboard. We are looking for someone who will:
- Volunteer their time in order to continue making the forum a better place for us all.
- Exemplify and uphold our forum community guidelines.
- Communicate proactively with the existing mod team and ensure alignment with the team’s moderation decisions.
- Commit to helping the forum for between 12-24 months and then step down.
- Expand their leadership within the forum community (someone who is already an engaged member of the community).
- Be someone Brandon S. (@exodus) will personally trust to help maintain the Insert Credit community. Expectations are that you will share your email and real name with Brandon and the moderation team. This is for continuity of operations reasons and to keep the forums safe and healthy.
Time commitments vary quite widely on a daily or weekly basis. Moderators spend about 1-2 hours a day “on the forum” which is up from what we spent before we started volunteering. The hours are broken up quite a bit and you can “make your own hours”. Do not feel like you need to commit to a contiguous block of time. Do not feel required to read every single post, but do try to be aware of the vibes in every single thread.
Your location on the globe will be considered a “nice to have” as the team wants to provide continuity throughout the full 24-hour global day. Right now, we are a bit European-time heavy and would like to expand moderator coverage specifically in US and Asian time zones.
Here’s how we’ll be doing it:
- Nominate yourself by sending a PM to @moderators with the subject “Mod Application - {Your User Name}”.
- Write a short statement about why you’re volunteering your time and how you hope to help the community. Pretend you’re a moderator and you have limited time! Communicate clearly and concisely!
- You may not formally nominate someone else, but you may absolutely encourage other community members to step up as a moderator. Feel free to shout out people who you think would be good in this role either in this thread or in PMs to those individuals and encourage them to apply. This is a great way to recognize positive community members in a meaningful way and encourage people to apply who may not have considered it!
The application window will close Saturday, November 30th, 2024 at 12:01 PM Pacific Time.
The entire moderation team will review the applications and make a recommendation to Brandon by December 10th, with the annoucement on the 16th. Brandon will ratify the final decision. The goal is that new moderators will be in place by January 1st, 2025.
