From the creator of Desert Golfing: Castaway on a Weird Island (rogue-like)

I was recently playing Desert Golfing and Golf on Mars when I thought “What else Captain Games has made recently?” that’s when I found “Castaway on a Weird Island”

For $3 on Google Play or Name Your Own Price on Itch, you can have a fun roguelike deduction game.

You’re a castaway who is on a small foggy island. There are clues as to what lurks behind the clouds. Sometimes it’s treasure; sometimes it’s a monster. Look around for the raft to find the next island and earn a high score. That’s about it!

There are 40 levels and I’ve really been enjoying it. I mostly wanted to share this game because I see that the Google Play version has “100+ downloads” after almost 2 years of release and I think it needs more.

I hope you enjoy it too!

Ooh yeah I’ll play that. Sounds kinda similar to Desktop Dungeons (very good) or that Card of Darkness game by Zach Gage (also excellent)

edit: Just ran through the tutorial and it’s also Picross kind of??

Kinda, yeah! I like how the clues dynamically change – so if you’re next to something, you will see yourself. It’s an interesting way to think about the puzzles for sure.

ahhhh this reminds me a lot of a very generically named roguelike I used to play, I think it was called Adventure Guild? I really liked it but it doesn’t work on modern android os, so it’s gone forever. maybe this will scratch a similar itch even though it’s clearly not rogue-y.

Yeah, I guess “rogue-like” wasn’t quite the right choice. Maybe not even “rogue-lite”… perhaps just “run-based”?

You might also look at Ananias, which comes in both a Free and $4 Fellowship edition (being the ad-free/support version).

I’ve only played it a little bit, but there is A Lot there.
