Games you're thinking about playing

I love some jrpgs but I just could not get into those Bravelies Default. Maybe because I can’t hang with FF1-3 as much as I can other old rpgs.

I’ve been thinking about SNES games lately. Dunno why. Brain Lord and Soul Blazer at the top of mind right now.

Soul Blazer is always good for a revisit! I think it’s the same kind of comforting and simple experience, but you get that feeling of progressing and rescuing people at a nice pace.

The last JRPG I played was Yakuza: Like a Dragon which I bounced off of because it required a lot of commitment and is all about spectacle, so a quieter JRPG I can just hang out in is perfect for me at the moment.

I just remembered that Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a thing you should play.

Now that one I have played, and I actually have the cart for that in a little box at home. Probably worth a replay one of these days though along with all the Ace Attorney games

think I’ll try the Caveman 2 Cosmos mod for Civilization IV. Strong user reviews on the civfanatics forum

Insanely incredibly vastly filled with content. This is an abasolutely goos-bumb inducing mod pack. I could play this my entire life and never be done with it. Truly fanstactic work! Thank you thank you thank you for making this for us all to use for free, god dammit it cannot get any better than this!

Don’t ask me why but 2025 feels like a good year to replay Final Fantasy 15.

i keep thinking about what i actually sat with that game and really played it, but i’ve tried 3 or 4 times and it just never sticks :(

Probably because 2025 is divisible by 15… or because the desire to play FFXV is driven by the same cycle as Saturn’s rings appearing to “disappear” from view as earth aligns with Saturn’s ring plane. You should definitely play it next year, astrologically speaking.

Geez if I don’t replay FF15 I feel like some terrible cosmic event will be fall me.

Will Mercury still be in Gatorade next year?

I enjoyed the Metaphor Refantazio demo and have been thinking about picking it up but l also don’t want to be burned by the “Bless me, Ultima” edition in a year and a half. Lord knows there’s enough other stuff to play during that time, but well…new and shiny.

Evidently Atlus is supposed to be stopping that practice, but we’ll see.

I just found out about simple series 2000 vol 78, the uchuu daisensou, or great space war. It’s an ace combat-like which starts out as planes vs planes, but eventually becomes planes vs kaiju, giant crabs, etc. It’s almost looking like an airborn EDF. I haven’t seen many people talk about it, and maybe it’s terrible. but the back of the box has tons of these screens.

I’m gonna try it when my PS2 works again and find out whether it’s actually neat. Here’s an ancient blurry video/ad for it.

I’m only familiar with it because I saw it on Japan Retro Direct at some point. Never looked much into this but looks rad. I’d argue like 80% of the value of a Ace Combat is the aesthetics and this certainly has one!

I think I’ll try to get my hands on it ASAP.

I like how it looks way too ace-combat-y. It gives me hope in the controls.

If English is important to anyone, it was released in Europe as “Space War Attack”

I’ve been really enjoying my time with Order of Ecclesia so far, so I’ll gladly continue with Aria of Sorrow afterwards!

Alien Isolation turned 10? Oof, might play that soon

Wow - I am constantly surprised by which simple series games came out in europe. There were so many! Europe was spoiled in the ps2 era and I feel like I never hear folks talking about it.
