Goofy stuff from your life

the other day i discovered some expired cans of beans, and some expired cans of sliced beets. i‘d completely forgotten we’d bought any of them. well the next day was can recycling collection day, so i set upon emptying all those cans. minutes later, there i was with a sink full of beans and beets. well you can imagine the visual, and the aroma. i successfully rinsed the cans, but then had to scoop out the beans n beets because i couldn't very well just leave them in the sink could i. i spent some time during this episode singing “beets n beans” to the tune of “boats n hos” from the classic film, Step Brothers.

@“whatsarobot”#p69427 I have a similar thing with your singing. I don‘t know if it’s common outside the UK but a lot of food packaging has the words “Peel and reseal” printed on it for food packaging that, funnily enough, could be resealed when opened.

A few years ago when I first noticed it I happened to be listening to [Bad Town by Operation Ivy](https://youtu.be/j6EVwQJN3oA) and started singing "peel and reseal" to the tune of the sax melody over and over and over again. Thankfully I've since started improvising lyrics to the vocals, and they're usually about what I'm going to put in my food and how good it's going to taste.

@“pasquinelli”#p69395 not quite!

@“whatsarobot”#p69427 Why didn't you empty them directly into the trash?!? Hah.

@“chakan”#p69485 lotta liquid involved!

@“whatsarobot”#p69427 last year in the back of my pantry I rediscovered a can of tomatoes which expired back in 2012, I bought those before I moved to my current place over a decade ago.

I used em in pasta sauce.

Perfectly fine.

@“whatsarobot”#p69524 Hmmm. I think I would have opened some windows, punctured the cans and sat them upside down near the drain to get rid of the fluids. There‘s no way I’d want to scoop that stuff out of the sink!

@“chakan”#p69562 it’s an easy situation to monday morning quarterback. you weren’t there in the heat of the moment like i was.

@“whatsarobot”#p69568 I‘m just wondering where you all live that “compost bin” wasn’t the first thought!! I guess there‘s probably a lot of places that don’t have those.

I keep my compost in a bag in the freezer and take it out to the green bin when it's full!

no 'roma in my home-a.

when i open a can of tomatoes and then let half of it go bad in a Tupperware in the fridge, i usually just empty it into a strainer and then dump the big bits in the compost. but i only came up with this technique after doing what @whatsarobot did three or four times and immediately thinking “why the hell did i just do that?”

@“exodus”#p69604 ain't got those in Yokohama

i would like to add that:

1) i am so amused that my stupid beets and beans episode has generated this much conversation lol
2) i must stress that i was under duress and had to dispose of those cans literally in a matter of minutes, during my get ready for work in the morning routine. i regret any errors made, and any offense my beets and beans disposal may have caused.

Can Talk

@“whatsarobot”#p69568 no doubt, just laughing with you.

@“exodus”#p68847 Like… Goofy has a dog, right? And isn’t pluto mickey’s dog, and yet he’s friends with goofy? Some real fluid relationships re: states of animorph in which they’re allowed to exist and persist.

Fine new video on this specific topic.

La Grange, IL a nondescript suburb of Chicago went with this chamber of commerce ad campaign. I lol whenever I see it. I guess they were going for a sound of delight and satisfaction, but it also reads like something horrifying is happening there

We have these two clocks hanging in our corner. They’re our version of a really rad Felix Gonzales-Torres sculpture titled Untitled (Perfect Lovers). He’s one of my favorite artists of all time. All of his work packs multitudes of personal/cultural connective tissue in beautifully situated objects of, relatively, mundane significance. His work is plain and potent and always inspiring. I highly recommend a google dive into his work. Definitely goofy and lovely.

@““I thought lethal weapon was safe…yeah.””#p71194 this whole design, photograph, font, colors, screams VHS cover. Ahhh! La Grange the 1992 straight to video horror/thriller.
