I’m glad you like it. When I play it I will enjoy it. but I also respectfully disagree with everything you said. At times seems like an emotional reaction, which is understandable if it’s one of your favorite games. Though I also don’t agree with everything said in that video. I think she makes a strong argument, but I only posted it to get the point across that it’s just not the same experience as the original.
“Abilities make battles more complicated” …girl. Like… girl… come on…
oversimplification of what she said.
FR/LG was my first (and only) experience with Kanto, so I don’t have the originals to compare them to.
pretty much says it all
I’m not sure I’d want to revisit Kanto now without the new evolutions and new mechanics we’ve seen in subsequent generations.
not me, I hate that stuff.
I really don’t understand her point that Kanto is underdeveloped/hollow compared to Hoenn and subsequent regions.
yeah Idunno I just interpreted as her saying that FR/LG weren’t as developed as R/S. Everyone should know gen 1 had the most adult themes and cool undertones going on, more than any other that would come after. But that brings up another aspect that the remake sterilized.
No idea what you’re on about with the gamecube games doing anything best. They’re cool as shit but they barely count and were made by completely different people who didn’t even care about rpgs so they need to be judged by completely different standards otherwise they fall apart. but that’s a whole different conversation.
Anyways sorry if you’re offended by the video. I believe in taking games on their own terms and deciding to enjoy them, which I will do when I do an intellectual playthrough of Fire Red soon. I have played fire red a ton, I preordered the game from Electronics Boutique, got the booklet preorder bonus, and I own six GBA wireless adapters, but every playthrough I’ve had of fire red has felt bland compared to the original, though again that’s not to say it’s without any value whatsoever. I personally would never consider it a replacement. it’s a different game. that’s basically all anyone is saying. Satoshi Tajiri’s touch is missing.
If Fire Red and Colosseum are your favorites, that’s cool, those are unique picks and very IC of you. They are completely different games though. I think Dracula X68000 is way cooler and more fun than Rondo of Blood. I played them both multliple times before forming that opinion though. It’s because I want a castlevania to take place entirely in the castle not 5 other places before that. The postgame argument is one I find pretty annoying.
But anyways @freakscene now I think you should just play fire red and don’t let me convince you otherwise, cause now that this is being argued I don’t want to feel like I’m fighting for your choice one way or another.
