You guys have some weird-looking steam decks
What is this community's preferred revision: NGPC or NNGPC?

@“milo”#p122654 Best handheld for sitting outside on a nice day…
reason #666 to keep your stock reflective lcd rather than replace with a backlit screen. >:3c
@"connrrr"#p122681 you mean the "slim" version? I used to think it was coolest, but I have big hands so I prefer the larger ones.
@“connrrr”#p122681 I am part of a very small insular neo geo pocket community and feelings are split - the NNGPC was the winner for quite some time but I think it's come back around. I have both and realistically the difference is so small and subtle that it may as well not be there. But for true weirdos all three versions have a different heft and build quality to them, and to hold in the hand, I actually prefer the original black and white NGP!!
For the color systems, I definitely used my NGPC more than my NNGPC overall, so I think that's where my bias lies. And when it came time to try an IPS screen I went with the NGPC without thinking about it too much, so... maybe that's what I think.
@“Neko”#p122656 I like how it appears as though you're giving Sakura some flowers.
I really want to like this console variant but it's just so ugly, ha ha. It really looks like they slapped some decals on it haphazardly. It could've been so much cooler!!
Got a PC to CRT TV 480i scan converter from the thrift store a while back and decided to try it with my Steam Deck at 720x480 resolution over HDMI to VGA to S-Video. Looks really good with modern pixel games:

TMNT Shredder's Revenge

The scanlines are more pronounced in the pictures since it's in the middle of interlacing, but they still look good in person at 480i like a Dreamcast or PS2 port of a 2D game.

Edit: A heck, guess I can upload YouTube videos so I might as well record and share this sweet action:

doing all the things
I love organizing saves across 12 memory cards sorted by official game labels in OEM memory card holders.
Plus OEM inserts for the cases. I love writing the lists of game saves on each card.
The cases were 50 cents each at world 8-2… I bought all of them.
Found a local pickup PC CRT and the seller had these little guys for $60 for the pair:
Panasonic 9" color security monitors from 2004. Composite only. They look amazing!

I don't see any mention of DSi/DS lite compatibility. Crushed they never made a version for the old 2DS.
I don‘t want to pressure anyone into an impulse purchase but today is the last day to order Waterfield’s throwback 3DS and Vita cityslickers, probably for another year at least.
@tomjonjon it is done!
DMG-01 reshelled with pre-pot pro sound mod, bivert and backlight in what sounded to be the closest colour they had to the stock pea soup, with colour-changing shell and silicone buttons!!
I spent all last night working on it and got right to the finish line before I started having power connection issues that I did not have the energy to diagnose before bed. Everything’s working now!
Yesterday I sat down and made a list of hardware mods and repairs I planned but still had yet to take care of, for everything from my GB Camera to my og Xbox. Before ticking the DMG off that list, I’d come up with eight items. Just seven more to go!!!!!!!!
Beautiful!
Live from my junkyard on AliExpress delivery day. Pi1 with runeaudio. Connected to wifi via usb dongle (I need to order more). Playing mp3s off a usb stick. Audio out via headphone jack to bluetooth transmitter to bluetooth receiver plugged into iPod dock / speakers.
Not sure what my final configuration will be here. But I love the idea of having a Pi just running my massive music library in the background and being able to just tune into it whenever but still being able to control it from a phone. In my dream life I have a large enough house where I can leave one on every floor with accompanying headphones or speakers.
The future will be built from the cast off past.
It’s that time of year again: Waterfield cases for 3DS and Vita are back.
