Having a very normal morning on this very normal day.

The brat memes are making voting for yet another Democrat more tolerable to me.

I finally got around to reading a lot of project 2025. A lot of my retirement is tied up in farm land and part of the policies listed in there are about removing subsidies for farmers making it impossible to make a profit as an individual farmer. It would force us to sell to industrial farming conglomerates who are the only ones that could afford to farm at that point. It has me extremely bummed.

My dad just emailed me out of the blue asking how to make a DND character

Ironic, I mean, he already knows how to create a Garrett.exe character

If anything this is evidence that he needs help. Wtf kind of stat distribution is this he gave me

Yeah me personally I wouldn’t have put all available distributable points into your Freaking Epic stat

What kind of character did he make?

Well clearly your parents put too many points into…kindness

@Mnemogenic I’m not sure. He’s going to gen con this weekend and hasn’t played DND in 40+ years so he’s nervous. I told him to roll a fighter if he’s nervous but knowing his proclivities I suspect a rogue or a sorcerer is forthcoming

If he’s gonna play 5E, character gen is super easy, just get a pdf of the player’s handbook and go from there. Also rogues are very fun, kinda meta-gamey in 5E. You can do wacky shit with bonus actions.

Yeah I was telling him that if he can play Gloomhaven 5e will be a cakewalk. I think he’s just worried about being the old dude honestly, to which I also added that when I was 24 I was going to a 65 year old man’s house every week to play lol

Yeah, like, he might be the only sexagenarian at any particular table but he ain’t gonna be the only sexagenerian at the con by a long shot. Hope Mr. .Exe has a great time

I think, as a worldwide society, we did not have the collective mental bandwidth to deal with another Olympics right now.

A local candymaker is shutting down and it’s sad to me! 74 years! I can’t quite tell whether it’s a private equity vulture thing but a bunch of their assets got sold off 3 years ago, so probably.

Their rocky road bar is the most popular but they are maybe best known outside the bay area for their appearance in Half Baked, prior to chappelle going off the rails.

I STILL often think “abba zaba, you’re my only friend” when walking around the house. What am I gonna do with that now!!!

(in beverage news, I have decided that both Inka and Pero are equally good chicory-based coffee substitutes, and all the others are simply not as flavorful. funny how most of the time you gotta import those from poland)

This is sad but I propose you track down a remaining Abba Zaba bar and put it on the mantel.

Yeah, I’m gonna be on the hunt this weekend for sure. Unfortunately I can’t eat it anymore as an adult human whose teeth would be removed from his head entirely if he tried. Those things are chewy and sticky!!

Abba Zabba going out makes me incredibly sad. I’ve an avid enjoyer of what my wife calls “Old timey candy”. Stuff like Necco Wafers, Abba Zabba, Charleston Chews… The candy that hasn’t updated its graphic designs in 60 years and is either unbelievably sticky or chalky.

there would be no Safe As Milk if not for Abba Zabba
