mario is a toddler with a moustache and a girlfriend and zero political interest
@“rootfifthoctave”#p79712 so yes then
yeah the guy‘s got a video game series, an upcoming major motion picture, a theme park, all kinds of merchandise deals. In other words a rich guy so odds are he’s a right winger
@“yeso”#p79725 I'm not so sure. His Wikipedia page says “he does not feel represented by either side of the political spectrum and has expressed a desire to find common ground.”
look it's a matter of his class interests

@“chazumaru”#p79679 [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/O1n3I4f.png] DK is certainly of an oppressed class. going on King Kong analogies one could argue he was kipnapped, exported as spectacle. Not to mention the monarchist King K. Rool's oppression as well.
If I chose a political alignment in the mario universe, it would probably be the yoshis.
specifically him:

just so everybody knows where I stand politically in the mushroom kingdom
@"gsk"#p79682 R&D1 characterized him as this kind of asshole for sure. Arguably worse than Wario in this textbook case of ironic hypocrisy.

Imagine this scene drawn as a political cartoon. Who does mario represent? Big Government? Big Business? Does Wario represent the working class?
We live in a society of black & white thinking, but humans are more nuanced. Tribal tats are certainly bipartisan and choice of sport or even income bracket can be totally secular of politics. There are left wing billionaires. Not everyone who wears red is republican. Republicans wear blue sometimes. **Mario can jump higher than any republican, guaranteed.**
I think this seals it

@“yeso”#p79753 I refuse to believe it!
proof that's not the real mario:

Political activities
> A 2004 study by the Seattle Times found that Segale was one of the top 50 political contributors in the state of Washington.[12] Overall, Mario and Mark Segale donated more than $90,000 to Democratic Party candidates and organizations between 2000 and 2007.[10] Some of these contributions were to elected officials who worked to secure state legislative earmarks for roads in a privately owned development proposed by a Segale company.[10]

you're changing the question
@“treefroggy”#p79670 perhaps a dumb question…
anything interesting about Mario's use of the personal pronoun _washi_?
Maybe he's a little-r republican and wants to see Peach abdicate.
Another related question, if you went up to Mario and said “Ooh, ah,” what are the chances he'd join in and say “up the RA, ooh ah up the RA!”
Is it “it’s-a me” or “it’s a-me”?

@“Syzygy”#p79791 The games are presented in English for audience convenience but Mario’s ‘accent’ is meant to reflect his inelegance with the native language of the Mushroom Kingdom
Does that mean Toad's soundbite barks are often untranslated Mushroom Kingdom language (when it's not discernibly English, anyway), and as such, Mario's inelegance with the language is understandable, considered it seems to consist of [a lot of weird, croak-y shrieking?](https://youtu.be/E3yF6Jgh7No) I suppose it's some sort of consonant averse tonal language.
Even more interesting a question is what the heck is goin on with the [Koopa language??](https://youtu.be/pbecF6Kn4U4)
@“connrrr”#p79771
Someone should make The Death of Marat but with Mario in the bathtub
@“Gaagaagiins”#p79793
I would like to know what Edward Said had to say about a comment like this!
@“captain”#p79769 I‘m not the one to ask because I’m so nihongo-illiterate that I don't even know what mario is saying in that lower image.

@“captain”#p79769 nonono, it’s wahoooo
