@“MovingCastles”#p127869 I love s-video. Have Saturn, PSX, SNES and N64 hooked up that way. Looks great even on a large tube.
@“tomjonjon”#p127871 alright sweet. I‘ve been reading online that it might be the best input for gaming? I’ll scope out some S-Video cables online if the specs allow for it. I suspect I'll need to work something out for the audio as well.
@“MovingCastles”#p127874 For a 14 inch monitor S-Video will look just as good as RGB due to the smaller pixels. It's gonna look awesome.
For audio you just need an amp and to find some good magnetically shielded speakers if you want them close.

Or you can get a little headphone amp if you like to wear those.
lol - thrift store strikes again
2008 Karaoke machine with a 5" BW CRT and iPod connectivity. Got it for $8. Speakers sound great!

@“copySave”#p127876 Will that play video off an ipod?
@“tomjonjon”#p127878 I think so. I updated the post with pics of the slide out dock. There is an input source knob with iPod on it.
@“MovingCastles”#p127874 the best input for games is going to depend entirely on your feeling. There‘s a big swing back toward composite for some folks now, where it was all component for quite some time. S-video being in the middle could work for you! But basically it’s all fine
@MovingCastles S-video is a really good spot to be in. WAYYY less interference than Composite. I feel like there are less like, good switchers for S-video, and I think I have only had one TV that had S-video but not also Component. But everything sub Dreamcast, and even arguably PS2 you are golden. Plus the cables are a fraction of the price, though try to spring for one with a decent reputation. Insurrection Industries should do you right
Anyone know how good Tatung tubes are? I've never heard anyone talk about them, this ones a TCM-1401 13". Also what cables would you need to connect to the back of this? any easy ways to convert a component signal to it?
@“CoolGuy87”#p127957 You're going to be scrounging for some ancient hardware to convert Component to S-video. Unless your whole chain is build around Component, stick with S-video on this one.
@“CoolGuy87”#p127957 As @“robinhoodie”#p127959 stated use the S-Video port. Also you might need to switch that 75 ohm resistor switch on (i.e. down) to make sure the picture isn't too bright. Pretty nice that set has that option!
And as I (@"copySave"#p127875) posted earlier you'll need an amplifier and some magnetically shielded speakers (or headphones) for sound.
Great find!
Also worth mentioning that if you have some composite cables laying around for whatever console, you can also connect those to the bnc inputs using a simple and cheap bnc to rca converter
one of these
@“copySave”#p127964 Could I just get a female aux to female composite adapter and connect some computer speakers that way and skip the amp if im satisfied with just ok sound? Also ill try out the bnc to rca converter and try and track down a good wii svideo cable

was going to mention that but forgot. yeah you can connect your audio to anything that has an rca input or an input that you can adapt
Made a little demo video of a new 480i scan converter I picked up. Good alternative if you aren't dead set on a 240p signal. 3D games and modern 2D games with high res art look great with it

@“copySave”#p127981 That OSD I think is what is going to tip it for me. This might not be one of my heavy use tools. But I can't imagine not finding some use for it.
@“treefroggy”#p127671 it looks like it might finally be time to replace my ancient framemeister.
@“Neko”#p127996 the time is nearing upon us all, my friend
@“MovingCastles”#p127874 I’ve got some beefy gold plated oem PlayStation s-video cables I never use if you want. They work on all three PlayStations.
they've been up for grabs for probably over a year now, but I've been meaning to make a refresher post in the sale thread of all the stuff I've got that is up for grabs.
@“hellomrkearns”#p125113 They followed up on this with Retro Castle (who is in China) these are re-purposed old tubes, not new ones. While no one is making new tubes, maybe this could signal that more companies could salvage tubes and try to sell them with newer controller boards.
