Let's share some game music

@KennyL PCE CD (and to less degree Mega CD) era is peak vg vocal song era.

That Spanish song is bonkers. It’s unfortunately found in the PC Engine remake for the awful-in-more-ways-than-one [Otaku no Seiza](https://youtu.be/aq4PVSysbF4).

I’d say the most iconic PCE song is the intro to Tokimeki Memorial, obviously because of how successful and influential the game was, but also notably for its effort to create a real "anime opening" feel with the storyboard of the various vignettes matching the song and lyrics, as well as the Karaoke display typical of that era of animation.

@Funbil I love when super tiny little short scenes have excruciatingly beautiful music for no reason

I thought you were posting the banger "Ōedo tourism center" tune.

@brillpickle inexplicably not on the 2CD version of the SMT V soundtrack, only on the 5CD (!!) version

In the same style, I still periodically think about the hidden Shiva boss battle’s theme. The fight itself is also pretty much the highlight of the game in general; then it’s all downhill with the main plot’s nothingburger conclusion and the tepid last dungeon…

@TracyDMcGrath Naki no Ryū: Mahjong Hishōden

I have been playing an unhealthy amount of Super Famicom mahjong games in the past few days and I am hung up on VideoSystem’s **THE Mahjong Tōhaiden**, which features some great tracks (and not so great tracks) from the Sonic Wings / AeroBlasters team. The game overall has a pretty charming "lost Neo Geo game" vibe. This is the gem of the lot, almost sounding like it’s out of an early Ken Ishii album.

I don’t remember if we have a thread for real life people cameos inside games, but THE Mahjong Tōhaiden also lets you play as UK rock singer Sting. Not a parody of Sting. Not a character heavily inspired by Sting or named something like Stung. It is literally The Police’s former frontman Sting, called Sting, and explicitly described to be that Sting. Pretty wild for 1993!

I really like this little jam before the final showdown in Ys 4

I am playing the Xenoblade 3 DLC right now and, once again, I always stay an extra 30 seconds or so with the rest spot menu’s music.

Since I am here, here is a nice synth cover of Giza Plains.

This entire OST is really nostalgic, early 7 year old memories for me. This one gets stuck in my head alot. Also the opening namco logo sound is intrinsically linked with the playstation boot up sound, because namco museum was one of like 3 or 4 games I had.

Here is a nice track from Itadaki Street 2 〜Under a Bright Pink Neon Sign. Bonus point for not being a Sugiyama composition, despite being the Slime-shaped map’s theme.

@Mnemogenic The song structure reminds me a lot of H2O’s Omoide Ga Ippai which was a small hit in 1983.
