Music that some people know about

New Megadeth isn't too bad! If you like Megadeth, probably a lot to love.

The Sammy Hagar cover (with Sammy on backing vocals) is pretty accessible and a load of fun.

Some people know Global Communication, right?

@“rearnakedwindow”#p83169 Hey, thank you!

@“JFury”#p83144 Thank you. HEY WHAT was my introduction to the band. It‘s a style I’m not used to. Rhys Chatham's Crimson Grail is more accessible.

It reminds me of the first time I heard the band Sleep. I wasn't ready for such slow tempo metal.

any other drain gang fans on here? excited about the new bladee single?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGdiQm4wI2M

for the uninitiated: bladee is one of the three vocalists in the swedish hip-hop collective drain gang. earlier this year he released probably his best record, [crest](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smVU37xAhY8), with fellow drain gang member ecco2k. their sound started off more in the cloud rap/emo trap vein but has slowly mutated into this bizarre ethereal hyperpop sound that's really like little else.

bladee's been super prolific lately, he's put out five albums since 2020. this is the first single from his second album this year, spiderr. i really like it, it's got this wild beat and bladee's lyrics are quirked up and have this sort of laid back, intentionally awkward flow to them that really puts a smile on my face. i'm real excited for the album, his last solo album [the fool](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2pQ8HyuTwOg) was i think his best ever but he's shown a huge amount of artistic growth over his past several releases so i'm excited about his potential.

How about an old anime music cover band, based on a Japanese old anime music cover band, with the bassist from Quiet Riot, the singer for Yngwie Malmsteen, the drummers from Judas Priest and Testament, and a guitar virtuoso who mostly made solo 80s albums. It's real dumb (I love it).

This mix is absolutely killer.

If you like classic soul music at all, you'll be vibing with this one all the way.

I met the brother of the bassist of this band at a party and thought they were pretty good:

I used to love this album in highschool but I somehow grew tired of it during college. Now it‘s been almost 10 years later since it released and I’ve been on a nostalgia swing for it. The production is still perfect, and this track in particular still feels like a pop masterpiece.

You ever hear a different version of a song before you hear the original and that ends up being ingrained into you as how the song is supposed to sound? Well that‘s how I feel about Sleep Token’s piano rendition of “Is It Really You?” By Loathe. I think Loathe‘s original version is also very good, I just can’t unhear Sleep Token's rendition now.

EDIT: It occurred to me that I should also share Loathe's original version should anyone want to avoid a possible bias.

Recently I‘ve been pretty fixated on Naked Eyes’, When the Lights Go Out. Very good synths, I love the sort of glassy water drop/clacking one that pops up around 40 seconds in. I really enjoy the kind of drum pattern that kicks in at 20 seconds in, too.

I was also on a big Swing Out Sister kick a few months ago, this one's a favorite.

I‘ve been getting into Their/They’re/There over the past year (I can‘t tell if this is really bad or really good SEO). Have you ever heard a piece of music and just instantly recognized it as “exactly for you(me)”? The noodly guitars, upbeat vibes, vocal harmonies, it’s all the stuff that gets my blood dancing, I love it. And in a weird twist of fate, they put out a new album the year I was getting into them after having sat on my list of “bands to check out” for years after I heard the name. Their last album was 2013, so I guess they were just waiting for me, I don't know.

Man

I don‘t know if I shared this, but while Shame hasn’t been a group I'm really fond of, this album is quite nice:

@“xhekros”#p111166 I like it too.
