thatā€™s what i thought when i first heard it but itā€™s so good. it has a breeziness and dare i say earnestness more distinct than its influences. it also came out the summer where i was 19 and talking to girls for the first time :tipping_hand_woman:

Itā€™s derivative but it came out when I was in high school so actually itā€™s brilliant and misunderstood.

Anyway I want to offer BCNR Ants from Up There. I assume seeing SOPHIE up there I can do new stuff.

itā€™s 90s leftovers like you can go track by track: pavement, teenage fanclub, sonic youth, dinosaur jr, spacemenf 3. It sounds like a dang homework assignment

This might get me punched but i feel like theyā€™re if Robert Fripp wanted to write Bright Eyes songs.

Editing to say. The place where he inserted the blade.

yeah this is good i can see why it got the buzz it did.

on that noteā€”it always surprises me that this band doesnā€™t have more listeners. itā€™s one of my fav ā€œplay it all the way through on a long driveā€ records:

Got tix to those west coast MJ Lenderman shows and whoever runs for president on making concert tickets cost what they actually cost should win fifty states, because what do you mean Iā€™m buying a third ticket in fees.

Iā€™ve worked with folks who have done it for film money and the only real key to it is to be on it hard. Give people small individualized perks like shoutouts and stuff you can post on social media.

Watch it constantly and post and share constantly, you canā€™t kinda expect it to glide and post it like say once a week. As much as that sucks and I know self promotion can be a nightmare.

So thanks to @MoH the impossible has happened I listened to a full David Bowie album, twice. Once through headphones and then a second time through speakers and louder. Iā€™m not saying Iā€™m a fan of this work yet but I really did enjoy listening to it.

Itā€™s not a jungle album at all - itā€™s just the first song that is. But as the album lead with it, it makes sense to be branded such. I found it really kicked in for me after the forth song, Seven Years in Tibet because it was all over the place and that is something I like in a song. The first three really felt a bit forced and having heard the entire album, out of place with the rest of the record. After that each song got better and better until Iā€™m Afraid of Americans, which hit very hard. Had that been the opener the album would have been seen in a totally different light, probably more which it should been viewed. And Iā€™ve have listened to it the day it was released! Luckily that was the penultimate song as it was hard to go on from there, but the album closed nicely and felt like a whole package. Yes there were songs I didnā€™t like, but thereā€™s only two albums I know of which I like every song on!

Itā€™s not any one specific genre of music, more just a mixed bag of styles that sometimes worked together, sometimes didnā€™t and sometimes REALLY did. But thatā€™s more based on what I like than the album as a whole. I donā€™t know enough about Bowieā€™s music to compare it to anything else heā€™s done fairly, but I know he always set the trends and didnā€™t follow them. This album feels like it was released exactly when it should have been and because of that it got muddled up with other releases and music at the time, which again seems unfair. Makes me think it was ahead of its time, like most of this stuff and only now people really see it for what it is - which is a David Bowie album.

Thank you for doing something no one else has done, which got me to listen to David Bowie properly. Not sure Iā€™ll like more, but itā€™s going to be fun finding out. Music, it rocks!!!

P.S. - Iā€™m not actually afraid of Americans, in case anyone wasnā€™t sure.
