MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS are touring North America right now. Saw them last night and they sound great. The guy opening for them is some screamo teen, which made me feel like the tour booker didn’t really know who to book for them to open.

I knew about it not much later than the original film was released. I think I watched by the time I was a film critic and it was a mediocre film.

I love masudore and Aoi Koi Daidaiiro no Hi is such a jam. Sad they didn’t play it when I saw them.

I went to my first ska show on Tuesday and it was incredible. I saw HEY-SMITH, Ballyhoo, and the Mad Caddies. All three were tremendous, but I want to shout out HEY-SMITH in particular. They were one of the first bands I got into when I was getting into ska. They came out and brought this tremendous energy immediately and they won over everyone who had never heard of them before. Their saxophone player was the most charasmatic human I have ever seen and he came out for the other bands and started dancing and trying to get people into it. I met most of the band and they were incredibly kind and genuine people. That’s a show I’m never going to forget and I’m still buzzing about. They’re on tour in the US for a few more weeks, so if they’re coming near you, don’t miss your chance!

leaning towards upgrading my pledge to get that cover song. “This boy wonders”? “Edinburgh Man”?, “Since Yesterday”? strong possibilities I hope arent too dull but what can you say, I like Scottish bands they tend to be pretty good at that stuff out there dont they

All fantastic ways to spend one’s money.

Circling back to Bowie - I’m a huge fan although I find his discography to be hit or miss. My favorite albums are Low, Station to Station, and Hunky Dory. Hunky is from "71 and the other two albums come out during the back half of the '70s. He has said that he was so addicted to cocaine at the time of recoding Station to Station that he remembers almost none of it. It doesn’t really come off as a coke album though.

What are some good albums that remind you of Fall?

Sufjan Steven’s Age of Adz always makes me think of walking to class my first quarter of freshman year. It was a super wet, cold Fall.

I’ve spent all afternoon thinking about which Grouper album best fits and autumn theme, but I think they’re either summer or winter.

these are all great picks. i will ask again in winter. i think most of my favorite music reminds me of that season.

@Bbtone I love that Mitski album dearly and agree that Fall fits it perfectly, but so many references to snow and frost in that one make it hard to define as anything but a winter album. But yes I agree, Fall album in my book.

my humble contributions are

Thursday Afternoon by Brian Eno (Is Fall the Thursday of seasons? – but surely Winter isn’t Friday…)

Portrait in Jazz by Bill Evans (And not just because there is a song called “Autumn Leaves” on it!)

A final one – Solid Air by John Martyn is very Fall to me
