For the first time in my life, I have seen the cover art for Deee-Lite’s second album, and nothing will ever be the same. I must share it with all of you in the hope that your lives might similarly be changed.
I feel richer having seen it, both mentally and spiritually. I can’t go back to not seeing that and I don’t want to!!
The new Tron Ares film has had its soundtrack composers announced. Personally I’m incredibly excited as it’s actually going to be a official release by them and not the other names they go by when releasing music
It’s as cool as seeing Jeff Bridges back to full health and being awesome!
While not music to listen to, it’s by people who made some (damn fine) music. AD-Rock and Mike D were on the latest Conan O’Brien podcast talking about their gold records:
The whole interview is fantastic, but this story (video starts at the story, ignore the Madonna text) really made me laugh and then some! Makes me want a gold record just to see what happens.
you know this group @Tom ?
I know of them but not that well, the second song really sounds familiar though. Is this a compilation of the album that never was?
Funnily enough, first thing I thought when I read it was The Naughtiest Girl is a Monitor
How did you come across that one then?
it is a “posthumous” compilation album yeah. Sheffield synth group ca 80-81 put out a few singles it looks like. Good stuff! Just came up trawling though weird post punk uploads on yt
Yeah I like it. Always good when the youtube comes up with random good surprises like that. Reminds me a lot of The Human League and Heaven 17 - which must be the Sheffield connection!
I shall continue enjoying it.

Life Without Buildings Any Other City best british rock record of the 21st century so far?? can we get a ruling @Tom
if you or British culture correspondent Tom of the Fog has any recommendations in this same vein I’d be glad to have them. Otherwise I’m going to burn through this album in a couple weeks time.
Really not my thing that - I knew of them but after another listen still not. I prefer my music when it comes to rock a bit, well a lot heavier.
On this one, my ruling is:
Now that’s an oxymoron if ever I heard one!
well you could get start working your way through the 43,000 The Fall albums though that’s a different tenor. Life Without Buildings is pretty unique I think
so you vote would be for Hymns or maybe Post Self something like that?
No, but between those and Any Other City I’d pick Godflesh every time. This is a question that requires a lot of thought, because what is and what I think is are probably not even close.
Best British Rock album so far of the 21st Century? My brain immediatly goes to the Arctic Monkeys and their first album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not. It was about life in North of the England for people in their early 20s so it’s relatable for most people in the UK at some point. However I do not like the Arctic Monkeys at all, but respect their part in the music world.
That’s just an initial thought - can I get back to you?
maybe kid a?
Came out in the year 2000, technically the 20th century.
I know that’s insanely pedantic but this is a big question and needs to be done right.
Plus if I didn’t mention it, Yeso would!
