I agree completely.
Also, I loved the re3 remake. I will defend it for forever.
I hope that flamenco music in the re4 remake trailer is in the final game lol
Mildly annoyed that this wasn’t mentioned in the news thread. You guys are my gaming news feed these days, come on
Anyway I have no novel takes on this, remaking _RE4_ is unnecessary but _RE2make_ was one of my favorite games of the last decade so sure go ahead!! Gotta wonder if they will preserve the cheese factor though
Also the most controversial choice: will Leon be able to walk while aiming
I‘m very curious to see how the tone of RE4 Remake diverts from the original. A major part of the original’s charm comes from its campy one-liners and scenarios. It‘s still an unsettling experience with some good chills but the tension is balanced really well with those cheesy action movie moments. I imagine it would be quite difficult to replicate this. Its unclear whether Capcom is going to try. The trailer seems pretty straightforward but that probably doesn’t mean much right now.
tbh when I first played it in high school I didn’t like the fact that RE4 switches from moody and unnerving during the actual gameplay to borderline God Hand level goofiness every time there’s a cutscene, but the more I’ve come to appreciate the style of B-list trash horror cinema the series was designed to emulate from day one - where the laughable dialogue and acting combined with the occasional arresting image or legitimately tense sequence are equal parts of the appeal - the more I’m down with the willful stupidity of it all. In fact the worst sin committed by the REmakes imo is “upgrading” the dialogue, voice acting, etc. from entertainingly inept to boringly mediocre.
Anyway, [LOL](https://www.vg247.com/shinji-mikami-hopes-a-resident-evil-4-remake-will-make-his-story-better)
@KingTubb when I launched I was disappointed in REmake 3 since it came after the excellent 2. Going back to it a few months later and I loved it as a breezy action game that looks amazing. I played through it a bunch of times using trophies as an incentive and without much difficulty you can get it down to an hour run. Great fun and that engine always looks superb.
I'm putting all my money on "yes"
I've been thinking about whether they're going to put in the same framework as REmake 2, but give it 3 pumps of action juice effectively making it RE6 again, or....
Are they going to really slow everything down and make it butthole puckering-ly terrifying.
The trailer gave me the vibes of the latter, which could be really cool.
Yeah dude! My first playthrough was maybe 8 hours with minimal continues (for me); breezy just like you said. It's a fun little game that has a lot of replayability and I really like REmake Claire. She was kinda corny and I enjoyed that.
@Gaagaagiins Imagine that, a company being smart and pouncing while everything's fresh, reducing development costs greatly and just making small refinements as they go.
Super hyped for RE4 remake. The remake installments have just played so well and generally took a single session or two to burn through.
@Chopemon I didn‘t get around to the re3 remake until around December last year and was blown away. I thought it was wonderful and couldn’t believe that people didn't like it.
I think it was just the unfair expectation of having it as long and robust as the re2 remake, which was a remake of a longer more robust game to begin with.
Yeah, that‘s exactly why it’s so strange! It makes sense but only if you assume… good creative and business practices?? In THIS economy???
I am thinking that the RE4 REmake is going to be quite different - the original is still available to purchase and play on every system going. Doesn’t make sense to release a beat-by-beat remake.
Has anyone shared this?
It showed up randomly on my Facebook feed and felt like a lot of work went into this.

Is Resident Evil Ø really that bad?
no I don't think so
It's fine. Not the best classic style Resi but always seemed worse than it is since it released after REmake.
Finished the RE4r demo on both my PC and PS4 and I gotta say I‘m glad the game’s still looking and feeling as good as it is on PS4, but it is just so deliciously lavish on PC. I‘m glad the majority of this series is easily accessible on most consoles - it’s nice to see the whole lineup from REmake to VIII all in a row on my PS4.
I watched a bit of the digital foundry comparison and I think I like the look of the ps4 version a little better tbh
