Namco's Link to the Past, and one of the most critically acclaimed games of the 80s, Valkyrie no Densetsu comes to Switch and PS4 this week after being trapped on ps2 compilations until now outside Japan

Namco has been putting out these videos. They're pretty cool and apparently no one is looking at them.

There is something super fishy about these Namco Museum of Art videos. They are translated erratically (the original videos can be found here), hosted on a specific Youtube channel (with less than a 1000 subscribers) and not supported at all by the official Bandai Namco communication channels (they use separate SNS accounts to promote them). Not sure what’s up but between the BNS side and the BNE side but this specific project clearly wasn’t approved by the marketing teams.

I just remembered that Namco funded a ridiculously cheesy, mostly forgotten, film: Sgt. Kabukiman, NYPD from Troma Studios of Toxic Avenger fame

https://youtu.be/cNni4xvB7IA

When I was a teenager, I was kind of obsessed with Troma's flavor of trash-flicks and even though I thought the title was funny, I never liked Sgt. Kabukiman. A lot of the humor comes from "lol, those Japanese folks sure are wacky and weird" or "what if he becomes a clown? are clowns still funny?" and it just... doesn't have any appealing qualities beyond the goofy premise and title. Namco wasn't happy with it because they wanted a character who could appeal to children (they probably wanted a better movie too). I'm pretty sure ownership of the character now resides with Troma since they've used him in various later films like The Toxic Avenger IV. But Kabukiman's definitely not in the same league as The Toxic Avenger, which I still consider to kind of be a guilty pleasure.

Here's Siskel & Ebert reviewing it:

It even had an animated pilot that never became anything more

I definitely don't recommend anyone actually watch the movie but that Namco connection is interesting!

More from 765 Style

They‘ve been uploading issues of Namco’s NOURS Magazine. Namco has hosted these on their own website before, but these scans are much better.

Cancel all your plans this weekend because this week’s [Arcade Archives release](https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/arcade-archives-the-tower-of-druaga-switch/) is the extremely influential **The Tower of Druaga**.

https://youtu.be/UK8tXLmu0Hc

An incredible opportunity to catch up on this classic. Here is a good 12min retrospective on why this game is so important, by NES Works / Jeremy Parish:

So you know what you’re going to do, but you might not know how to do it *well*, which is why I oblige to share the [StrategyWiki page](https://strategywiki.org/wiki/The_Tower_of_Druaga/Walkthrough) and this very recent commented 1CC speedrun (starting proper at 3m04s):

Let’s all clear The Tower of Druaga together this weekend! Tally-ho! (I need some book club-type motivation to finally get around to it.)

By the way, this version has some cute bug fixes.
