Retro piracy
That is quite a high valuation for 12000 pirate game consoles.
My nas is valued at well over 50 million dollars.
it’s not just a quick brown fox style pangram, but it is an old poem that uses each kana once which is cool. it’s also used as a (very?) antiquated way of ordering the kana, sort of an alphabetization system before the modern あいうえお etc system came about. nowadays i think it’s mostly used as a japanese style version of note ordering, like in the west we use do-re-mi etc. i dunno the intent of that shirt exactly but it being “do re mi fa sol la ti do” is what i’m inclined to believe (in at least one of the puyo puyo games the Harpy character sings it when she does a real good move or loses which is where i first ran into it)
the poem is so old it uses the hiragana ゐ and ゑ !! i love those guys
reading dostoyevsky and consulting my tropes in media tier list to grade accordingly.
At least it’s calling out “Show, don’t tell”. That phrase has a lot to answer for.
when the media has psychology >>>
Protagonist is of course god tier but then when that protagonist’s story is open ended I throw the book at the wall and light it on fire
for the record i think the list is a troll but pretty funny
Yeah it’s a bit but the booktok people really talk like that
I love Themes
I was going through some of my old digital photos and came across my desk setup and shelves of anime, manga, and games from 2010-ish. Some photos are blurry as heck. But it’s an interesting time capsule of a high schooler in the late aughts obsessed with media from Japan.
In the corner you can see my sick DBZ trash bin
Anime was so expensive at the time. I primarily bought it at Suncoast video in the mall. DVDs with like 2 or 3 episodes were $30 a pop. Buying all of FLCL cost $90. Trigun was hundreds of dollars. Eventually box sets started coming out which made it a little more affordable. At that time I remember hearing how great Evangelion was but had no way to watch it until that silver box set came out. Really did enjoy it a lot as a ~15 year old.
Last Exile was cool, I wonder how it aged. Now and Then, Here and There was a series I bought because it was cheap but totally loved it! I gotta rewatch it to see if it holds up 20 years later.
Lots of manga during that time. Fond memories of buying volumes at the bookstore in the mall. DBZ vol 13 was my first manga. I was obsessed with DBZ as a kid, and I randomly got it one day and had no idea the anime and games were based on a comic series.
My game collection! Lots and lots of JRPGs. It was pretty much all I played. During that time I was deeply obsessed with the DS Pokémon games. I imported both heart gold and soul silver and played them all the way through in Japanese somehow.
I don’t own any of these items anymore. I sold them when I downsized and moved across the country. Oh well! Fun to look back at it. Anime News Network had a column at the time called Shelf Life where people submitted photos of their shelves, which must have been why I took these photos over 15 years ago.
omfg i need the haruhi chest
