yikes!! they really didn’t know what to do with this sort of movie in the US in the 90s (but I guess they were trying lots of things at that time). It’s a pretty embarrassing one!

it’s real bad! Here’s a palate cleanser.

The Incredibly Strange Film Show on Jackie Chan.

at 22:28, he shows a stunt that went really wrong on Armour of God 2, so now he has a hole in his skull.

I’ve just become aware of The Incredibly Strange Film Show recently, and it’s really good!

The stunt is in the ending “blooper” reel as well! Some of those are pretty hardcore, like at the end of one movie (which I forget the name of) three people jump out of an exploding building, and the explosives went off too early and one of them got set on fire. The movie ends with a title saying “we hope for their full recovery” or something (and they did indeed recover).

In police story 2 (I think??) the actress playing Jackie’s long-suffering girlfriend Maggie Cheung was hit in the head with a falling metal beam during a stunt so for the rest of the movie (just 10 mins or so) her character is conspicuously never shown from the front and is played by a body double because she was concussed in a hospital. They were pretty hardcore

Yes! That outtake is in the show as well and includes an interview with Maggie.

Hard not to be tempted, but it’s clearly a ridiculous purchase!! But I’d be thinking about it.

The tactile measure of the mass just from pulling the box out acts as a natural deterrence, lol.

Yeah, the idea of getting those things anywhere ought to do it!

Would a full VHS set weigh more or less than the laserdisc equivalent I wonder.

These are the kinds of things I actually do think about! But it depends on whether they’re recorded in ep or sp on tape. So how many eps per disc vs how many eps per tape.

I would say that - on average - one tape is heavier than one Laserdisc. But if the Laserdisc has 2 eps per disc and the tape has 4, that changes things! I reckon this is actually knowable information, but something makes me feel that I should keep it mysterious.

nice! also, while not in the market for wild ARMs 2, i gotta say: if i was, i’d offer guy like $40-45. that’s a lotta wild arms to have about, and i don’t know from economics either but i think the market is being a tiny bear about it

The recent Bonus Credit made me go digging for my old baseball cards (& basketball). One of the few things I’ve held onto since childhood. I was looking for a series of baseball cards designed to be played as a game called MLB Showdown, but guess I didn’t have any of those in my collection. But I did have a fun time going through everything. Glad I saved all of this.
