That makes me sad.
Yeaaah but that came from Tim Rogers so idk… and it ends with him not being sure if it was a joke:
“Kojima says, because he was playing Pokémon Crystal about six hours a day. He called it his “part-time job.” This might or might not have been a joke.”
Also, Crystal came out in JP almost a year before MGS2. 9/11 happened during that timeframe, which actually required some late-development changes.
Also a critique on gaming culture, yes, but I mean he’s surrounded by it–it’s his job. Using again my previous comparison, Twin Peaks The Return also subverted/critiqued tv shows and their nostalgia but it’s not like Lynch was much into them (from what I can tell ofc).
A few years ago I stumbled across another channel of some guy making his wife livestream video games. She was playing Super Metroid and not really enjoying it. They had an argument about how he doesn’t spend time with her unless it was for content like this. The stream archive had like 4 views. One of my most vivid childhood memories was the argument my parents had when I was in kindergarten that led to their divorce but this was still the most bitter I’ve ever seen a couple act towards each other
I felt that
Is “wife plays…” a big genre of streaming that I have missed? Is it really as heteronormative as it sounds?
Judging by the views in the clip I posted and the views recounted in @Funbil ‘s anecdote, I am guessing it is not that big of a genre….unless we’re just seeing the dregs.
But yes, very heteronormative in the worst way lol.
I want to say I’ve seen more thumbnails of this genre out in the wild. At a bare minimum, the idea has been out there since at least girlfriend mode in the late 00s/early 10s. Consider it the last remaining vestige of the idea that girls don’t participate in games, and thus are inherently less skilled at them.
saving on that air conditioning bill by ensuring your house is as chilly as possible
I swear I made a thread where we could show off weird classified ads, but I think it got lost in the transition? anywhere, here is worm
This is so sad. The insistence on it being called “my worm” shows a real attachment. You can’t just take someone’s worm away like that
Would you still love me if I bought someone’s worm
My eternal allegiance follows those in possession of the worm
Would you still love me if I was someone’s worm that someone else bought
Could it be you’re remembering Bishop Infinity?
