I "palpated" (another tim-ism) the "that god darn guy" quote so hard that my mind commanded me to summon this god darn guy:

@rejj#16605 Iām amazed at how well this crossover works. Thereād definitely be a market for it, if Babymetal's following is any indication. Also, surprising amount of Gwen Stefani vibes coming from L Gaga when paired with the Meshuggah.
@Syzygy Charles Martinet has a "Webmistress." :O
@SuperEffective This whole dumb thread is full of god darn guys.
One of my favorite youtube videos of all time
Content warning: gratuitous violence against invasive carp

@Moon#16704 That really was gratuitous!
@3SuspiciousTurtles#16728 I'm not generally much of a sneaker head, but I have questions! What is the Japan City pack? What other cities got their own shoe? I want to see a Dunk for every city I've been to, because they really captured the feel of Osaka with these ones.
this thread has got me looking at the oldest videos in my āLiked videosā playlist.

@hellomrkearns#16735 To everyone's benefit. This feels like it came from back when YouTube was a pure and unsullied land, full of opportunity. And I can guarantee that no one in attendance at whatever event this was (a funeral? a school talent show? a restaurant opening?) fully appreciated what they were witnessing.
@3SuspiciousTurtles#16728
Haha I had the Tokyo edition air force ones. But I bought them in Osaka.

I, er... don't think I would wear these now!
Dang. The closest I ever came was this model of Onitsuka Tigers:

@hellomrkearns#16735 OMG I carried around this video in my PSP back then. It might be still in there. So funny. So great.
I also carried around this video in my PSP.

@whatsarobot#16734 There are 4 Total. Tokyo, which are black and white, Nagoya, which are gold with fish scales, and Fukuoaka, which are basically a rainbow. Here's the full
Set of 4.
As for *Why* I've got no clue. Nike likes Japan, and Japan likes Nike Dunks. These are all impossibly limited though.
@3SuspiciousTurtles#16757 Thanks! These are great. Tokyo and Nagoya also āfeelā accurate to me, but Fukuoka I'm not so sure about. Maybe Fukuoka was different back in 2008.
saw this for the first time today, and it rules

here's a recent fan animation that I love. equal parts sincere and silly.

@Moon#16940 hell yeah! Gainax and ELO together at last.
This channel is worth a follow. A couple days ago they uploaded a LaserDisc copy of Daicon IV using the Doomsday Duplicaor. Gives a good comparison to show just how much cleanup that upscale did.

Yet another channel posted a restore comparison of Daicon III just a few days ago. This one is sourced from 8mm scans!

Here's an article talking about both projects:

Also, here's an ELO song about a guy and a robot lady.

She has an IQ of one thousand and one
She has a jumpsuit on
And she's also a telephone

I went down the rabbit (heh) hole today reading up on it. Facinating story. I had no idea.
I also enjoyed learning that they did a homage to it for the opening of the live action TV adaptation of the famous 2channel "train man" story.

Daicon IV rules. I discovered this like 15 years ago and it got me into ELO. The album this song is from is pretty neat too. Concept album about a lost time traveller.
