I actually had an idea for a thread where people can complete and post a quick, poorly drawn sketch of videogame characters (ideally done in MS paint) and forum members would have to guess the character.
I guess this would make it harder

I survived holding my first ever real lecture! I held talks here and there before and of course did a bunch of presentations in business meetings but standing in front of a bunch of first semester master students at university was intimidating at first.
It went pretty well I’d say. And now that I know what the students are like, planning the next lectures is going to be easier. I also got a better feel for what it means to meaningfully fill 180mins of lecture time.

I also had to give 3 hour lectures once a week last semester and it was an absolute nightmare. I’d be stressed and unable to sleep the night before from the anxiety, and then after the lecture was finished I’d be exhausted from talking for three hours, too tired to do anything else meaningful for the rest of the day. It sounds like you might be a better speaker than me though, so hopefully the lectures are less stress for you once you get used to them!

Oh man, I’m so sorry to hear that!
I was also quite worried and had trouble falling asleep last night. Today I helped myself (and the students) by adding a portion of group work and student presentations and made the whole thing a bit more interactive. And I think next time I might increase those interactive parts even more.
Neither talking nor being talked at for 3 hours straight is an amazing experience so I think that’s a good solution for now.
I was a bit worried because I held the lectures in English and I always get super self conscious about my accent and get a little disappointed when I feel like I can’t get a point across as eloquently as I would in German. But these lectures will be good practice I guess, haha.
