I think hope town is made by the offshoot that people were least connected to the original team. Also you play a rich and sheltered journalist who ventures out to the real world for the first time.
it’s hard to keep straight and that all these games are spiritual successoring and xerox of xeroxing something that was good but kind of pushing it into being a little annoying 5+ years ago, idk a little exhausting to me and us all I imagine. Look all I’ll say is since year of the GOAT 2019, IPL has made two neat little games (one for free), is releasing a free prologue game on Monday, and Pathologic 3 set for release before any of these disco elysiums

Like the factions in Disco Elysium, I imagine each of these successor games is made with good intentions, followed by true believers and cynics alike, and ultimately responsible for some part of what’s worst in the world.

it’s pretty weird. I thought the roster of people who did the foundational creative work on the game was mostly straightforward and legible, then there are also these other claims on successorship by people who came onboard later on. Don’t know what to make of it

Maybe I’ll actually check this one out. I’ll probably never play Disco Elysium, so I’m hoping at least one of these successor games strikes my fancy
Looking at the longdue studios sites and it’s hard to see little bifurcation things like this as anything other than pleas toward authenticity.
