That’s basically my use case lol, PC indies that aren’t on console. Eventually a PS5 so modern stuff is whatever. Been contemplating a basic PC build vs Steam Deck.
as a guy who bought the steam deck for the “strange indies,” it’s 99-100% done the job. however, i’ll caution that the more you get into the “strange indies” world, the more you find yourself interested in older or exclusively mouse + keyboard games. you can get most of those to work with a little jerry rigging or just straight docking the deck, but there are times where i wonder if i should have just built a cheap pc. but then again i chose the steam deck for easiness and convenience, so who knows if i ever would have dug that deep were it not for the steam deck in the first place. a real chicken and egg situation. hopefully this makes the decision more complicated for you!
i got an OLED over the holidays and im really happy with it! with a dock it functions well as a head for my lil ratgirl home theatre setup, and i find it ideal for emulation/playing basically anything pre-2023 as long as im not expecting miracles. the d-pad is a little stiff, thats really my only complaint. having a full kde desktop in the thing really excites me too, im sure theres a ton of weird shit a person could do with one of these.
Thank you I am even more lost <3
The Steam Deck’s docked performance is somewhere around PS4/PS4 Pro depending on how well the game uses modern upscaling. Whether or not this is acceptable is debatable in 2025, and I only play it docked when traveling.
Patapon is very “interesting”, but Rhythm Heaven is genuinely great.
Patapon’s enjoyment factor is heavily dependent on liking the sounds of children chanting and yelling.
Steam Deck is great at many things, but it sure feels coolest when a fan game comes out and you can just play it on the system you own. Ring Racers, Streets of Rage Remake, AM2R, etc
Just learned there is an itch launcher. Gotta check that out too.
I want to play a video game from the early to mid 2000s that’s kinda stupid. Here are my candidates:
I haven’t played any of these, so I picked other by default. I was going to say God Hand, but it seems like you want stupid as in mindless action rather than stupid as in incredibly stupid dialogue.
Instead I’ll say Wallace & Gromit in Project Zoo
Voted for the only one on the list I played: baby’s first dynasty warriors.
Although I just now learned there was also a GBA RPG version by Quintet. Wild.
Looks like Hulk wins! Thanks for the input, everybody.
I think I’m ready to play another big, long RPG on Steam Deck.
I’m not one hundred percent sure I’m ready for one, but if I waaaas going to, which one of these should I play?
I have not previously played any of them (and I have not played any version of Persona 3)
I did very much enjoy the other RGG games I have played (Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, Yakuza: Like a Dragon).
I also really liked Persona 5 and Metaphor: ReFantazio
but have not played a “regular” SMT game.
I also adored Cyberpunk 2077 but haven’t played a Witcher game before.
It’s looking pretty close!
Japan vs Poland, the ultimate forum showdown
If you don’t end up playing SMT V I’ll take you listening to one of the best tracks in that game as a consolation prize.
When you are the only one to vote for the other Japan, rather than the other other Japan, Japan, or Poland.
I initially voted Infinite Wealth but reading your post, I don’t think a new Yakuza needs to be a priority right now.
Play SMT4 first.
Is this an attempt to spread your vote 3 ways, because you actually voted for The Witcher 3?
Mad respect
