A variety of things in July/August, along with this dragon mug I posted in mug check. Chants is just for the collection since I have a digital copy. Can’t wait for my ears to be fully healed so I can actually use the swimsuit.
Yesterday I got the wrong cable in the mail! I was supposed to receive an S-video cable for the PS1, but I ended up getting one for the Xbox instead. Bummer.
Bō: Path of teh Teal Lotus looks so cool! I only had time for one East Asian take on Hollow Knight this year, and Nine Sols is an all-timer, but I’d love to hear your thoughts on Bō if/when you play it.
The label on cotton is definitely a little fuzzy and darker compared to the real thing, but the cart is very convincing (it even says “made in japan” lol).
The Wonderswan labels are good, and the cart looks convincing. The main differences are the color of the plastic being slightly “brighter” and whiter than an original, and it also has a big wonderswan logo printed on the back of the PCB. Which is actually nice! I prefer to know which of my games are boots, and part of why I got this dicing knight is it’s the english rom (this the EN over the label), so it’s something you couldn’t get for real anyway. and cardinal sins I don’t believe ever had a print run, it was just a contest winner until it got remade into judgment silversword?? I think?
mama mia, what a coincidence! did the same
Took advantage of Suruga-ya’s recent free shipping promo to get a few things!
The puyo doujinshi was a low cost chance I took as it was categorized under BL, it’s just fanart of Arle as she appears in Puyo and the Madou series.
Still very surprised all this was considered “used” but aside from the figure’s box already being open, everything was pristine.
One of my gfs has been getting me into gundam and gunpla over the past year so I ordered some kits (specifically a real grade AEUG Gundam mk 2 and a high grade Farsia) and a jp copy of final fantasy ix from Japan which came last weekend :3
I came into a bit of money somewhat recently and treated myself to some movies, and went a little overboard with a couple of bulk international orders on top of my usual places.
Some of these I intend to watch with my regular-ish movie night group, some with Ms LeFish, and some that I fully expect to watch on my own because I can’t imagine there being a lot of demand for some of these.
Let me know how undefeatable is - I’ve been interested in watching it since I like cynthia rothrock but also not super excited about it because the main villain is a serial rapist and I just don’t want to watch that. I’d love to know how bad that aspect is compared to whether the action is any good I guess!
I will do though my gut says that you won’t be missing much. That did cross my mind when I was buying the movie but if I know to expect such a scene from a movie where the primary genre isn’t based around graphic sexual violence then my hope is that those scenes are brief and tempered. I’d rather they not include it though!
I ended up going for it because of Cynthia Rothrock and I’d had a recent run of rewatching a bunch of her movies. It was among an international order too and hasn’t had a release over here and it had a modest discount.
I’m still waiting to see whether any of her Western movies are actually good - I’ve heard good things about Tiger Claws but have never seen it and apparently I missed the release of the collection. I’ve finally got china o’brien 1&2 coming after a discount at vinegar syndrome (I think that’s where it was). So far every good “western” movie of hers I’ve seen recommended (E.G. Lady Dragon) was actually done in indonesia with an indonesian crew. Luckily that makes for a decent movie, but still doesn’t answer my question of whether any of her western films are any good, ha ha.
I’m not sure of Tiger Claws - not seen it myself but I’ll try and check it out. I’ve got the China O’ Brien collection that, I think, Eureka put out over here. The first film is pretty decent but nothing that’s going to blow you away and I haven’t got around to the second one yet.
Reading the back of the box, I think Undefeatable might’ve been done in Hong Kong but without looking at the credits I couldn’t say. It might turn out to be worth it.
Most of her other films over here are legacy DVDs releases or a few Hong Kong ones so there’s fairly slim pickings at the moment but the releases are coming fairly quickly so there’s hope of some more up to date ones soon.
As witnessed in the above post, I also got my copy of Diver’s Dream at the same time. Managed to tidy it up real nice with electronic cleaning spray!
I ordered some Toshiaki Kawada merch from this apparel company called SPLX (I’m pretty sure Zack Sabre Jr. owns it or something) and they gave me a bunch of neat Kawada trinkets as well.
Today Ridge Racer V arrived. Fun game, although I don’t think I am very good at it yet. It’s a bit different from the previous Ridge Racer games. Had some trouble finding this one in good condition, so this was a great find for the low price of 5 dollars. I got something else too, but I think I’ll save that for the controller thread.
Post your thoughts in the Ridge Racer thread!
Absolute goinkage, you’ll love it.
