Gotta flash my hipster badge and say I loved enchanted arms before it was cool. Paid like five bucks for it. Wonder how much it’s going for on eBay now.
Looks like it goes for about $15.
GOOD! Let’s hope it stays that way forever. I do not want to see it influenced by the Kings Field effect and become one hundred dollars overnight.
fortunately collecting for the xbox is pretty cheap.
the only games i’ve seen go for more than 20 are like movie licensed games. MS consoles just doesn’t attract the collectors (for our benefit). sony and nintendo has the speculators.
Dicotek media had a sale on the crunchy roll store. Here’s what I would up with (along with some new manga volumes that were not on sale)
Samurai troopers was the “for boys” anime that aired on TV alongside sailor moon. It wasn’t nearly as good or as popular but I figured for the price it might be fun to revisit.
A fun combo just arrived. The latest Brazilian Carl Barks Complete Library volume and Chiki Chiki Boys for the Mega Drive.
I’ll have a great afternoon today.
Got a couple video game shirts, but was disappointed that my order for the neatest shirt(Earthbound) was canceled.
Also got my nephews’ Christmas presents in. One really likes Zelda games so I bought TotK since it was at a big discount, but it will probably sit around on a shelf until his next birthday because I already purchased him the 2nd Hyrule Warriors game for Christmas. The other one really likes the princesses and enjoyed the demo, so I got him Princess Peach Showtime. Theatrythm is for me.
My shipment from Suruga-ya showed up suddenly yesterday, after just shipping on Friday! Kinda wild how fast stuff can arrive from Japan, especially via DHL! This is my first Saturn haul in a number of years.
It’s mostly Japanese versions of D no Shokutaku, which for some reason I didn’t already own in any form (I used to own the North American version of it for 3DO in the 90’s), but also Enemy Zero because it was laughably cheap (like 800 yen cheap), but also the ‘Silhouette Mirage Experience CD-ROM [Trial Version]’ that I’ve had my eye on for at least a year and which I am not sure what even to expect from which is the (in)famous demo that also includes a relatively easy to access full version of the game as Brandon pointed out a while back!
Predictably everything is in beautiful condition!
Extremely nice haul. Do you have D2 as well?
I do! Several copies, lol! I prefer original D though. Kinda surprised to see that D2 is more expensive than any version of D.
…although looking at what’s out there in terms of versions of D2 is pretty wild! I’m not sure I like D2 enough to want to drop 1800 yen apiece for versions with different packaging!
I’m still missing the regular PS1 release, as well as the director’s cut for 3DO (which is typically VERY expensive).
PSA: There’s nothing stopping you ordering as many Pokémon cards of your favorite Pokémon as you can find. It’s perfectly legal. Especially if you stan a relatively unpopular one b/c all of these were very cheap
I’m sure there’s one version of D that’s more expensive - the one that got hand-delivered by Kenji Eno himself! I think it was signed and had some extra stuff. I’ve never seen a copy though, so I can’t confirm.
@IsopodBod this pokemon looks like my dog
Oh, yeah! I’ve always wanted to at least see a copy but I’ve never encountered one either. I’m sure it’s way outside my price range, and I’m not nearly enough of a fan for that.
A friend is trying to get me to join him in collecting Pokémon cards. He bought three cards and had them be sent to my address.
I feel like a dealer is trying to offer me the first hit for free, lol
He even got the Japanese editions because he knows I speak the language. I feel peer pressured. But in a kinda nice way?
the art is really nice….
I forgot how much I loved scuffed chunky pikachu
As surugaya has been doing a free shipping scheme you’ll have seen a few people’s orders coming in. But you may be wondering - where’s the trash? Where’s the sicko stuff? Where’s the nonsense? Fear not, I have you covered.
Every day for as long as I feel like it or can remember, I’ll highlight something weird I got until I run out.
First it’s these two pc engine sound sheets. What is a sound sheet you may ask? It’s a record so thin and flexible that it can be distributed as an extra in a magazine.
I found Darius and genpei toumaden sound sheets while browsing and they were like 4 bucks each. They came in paper sleeves with your magazine. I have some western ones from Keyboard Magazine that are square because they were bound into the magazine and you’d tear them off! They have a perforation at the edge. Like this!
They really are very thin and floppy if you’ve never seen one. It’s slightly thicker than a sheet of paper.
It’s a neat and cheap way to distribute some pretty cool promos. As you can imagine from the covers these sound sheets are the soundtracks of their respective games, as distributed by pc engine fan magazine. As I type this I am listening to the Darius one. As cheap and flimsy as these are, the sound quality is honestly find. Sounds like music, I dunno!!
They also advise you that if the sheet slips you can out a coin on them to keep them in place. Sometimes I put the coin on the cartridge housing. That’s probably bad to do.
Well that’s my weirdo thing for today. Let’s see if I remember to do one tomorrow!
Oh I’ve never heard one of these
What about sound quality? Is any good? Probably they scratch easily.
I’d say it probably sounds like when I used to record nes soundtracks using an old 70s tape recorder close the the tv (that is to say, awesome)
