What's that (obscure!) game!?

Lumines doesn’t seem obscure enough for this thread… Maybe the mobile one? Touch Fusion?

Both very good guesses but not quite.

I’m going to zoom out a little bit so you can see something on both screens

Some people may recognize this game as one that I personally recommended when a certain shop was closing down.

Maybe including the player ship can help you identify this game. It’s hard to find a good screen shot because of the torrent of metals on the screen at all times.

Blockquote because of the torrent of metals on the screen

This is going to sound like a completely out of left field guess, but could it be Metal Torrent, running on a 3DS, originally released as DSiWare?

Bingo!

Metal Torrent goes extremely hard, reckon I’ll try it out should I ever get the chance.

Without further ado, here’s my game!

it’s not, and I’ve realised I’ve let it sit for far longer than I’ve intended, so here’s an unobscured screenshot.

Is this an education game, like QED: Cosmo’s Casebook?

Kinda looks like Boundary Gate for PC-FX to me… but that’s not it

Nothing so far!

It is a commercial game for a home console, and I wouldn’t call it meaningfully educational.

That’s anime and you have a Lupin III avatar. Using this resource, I may have narrowed it down. Is it LUPIN THE THIRD: THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO REUNION?

A strange sort of interactive encyclopedia/backdoor sequel to one of the greatest films ever made, Lupin The Third: The Castle of Cagliostro Reunion is constantly topping top 10 lists of games I saw in surugaya and need to throw on a MiSTer one day!

Also wow! lotta Lupin games I didn’t even know about in there!

Yeah, I mainly know Lupin III because I went through a spree of watching Miyazaki stuff. Of course, it stands up on its own.

OK, here we go. Starting with a whole screenshot. I have a few others to provide in store too.

Is this some kind of Chaucer video game adaptation?
