When there is a Type of Guy

definitely waddle dee

it’s a very insert credit moove to post Moos from Klonoa before mentioning Waddle Dees

@[deleted] the originals chads.

The robots from NieR Automata are definitely some guys:

@[deleted] also tag yourself: I’m white run baby.

@connrrr

this you?

@Funbil I didn’t play enough Skyrim, sorry.

Those copy-pasted orphans sure look like a type of guy, though.

The slight differences from the actual textured models (Yoshi’s teeth, whatever is going on with Kirby and Jigglypuff) in Smash 64 always made them feel like a type of guy.

@SkeletonCounter Smash 64 is by far the most IC game in that series, right?

Skeletons is the OG type of guy

This mans whole life is throwing

hell yeh dude

@rootfifthoctave

Type of Guy × Show Me the Skeletons crossover!!

this made me think of the enemies in Lode Runner for some reason. i don’t think they’re guys exactly, but perhaps they are a kind of proto-guy

@treefroggy wait wait what? That’s a Yorrick!

When talking about a Type of Guy, why not a Rolling Guy?

Happily introducing street racers to the C1 inner loop in their slightly differentiated Truenos and Levins since the first Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

In a happy bit of forum synchronicity, this post could have worked equally well in the following recently active threads:

  • Video Game W33d References
  • video game t-shirts
  • What’s in the mail?

(last two are thanks to a cool Team Rolling Guy shirt I found online)
Edit: dangit upon closer inspection of the Team Rolling Guy logo on this obviously unofficial shirt apparently I can also add “Show me the skeletons, I want to see them :skull_and_crossbones:” to the list of relevant threads, but I’m also going to have to make a new one, “What’s in the mail that you’re slightly less enthusiastic about receiving?”

All of these examples are “good guys”. None of them are “bad guys”. Great job.

@[deleted] I was thinking every single pokemon is marketed to the point where they’re a type of guy for sure, this is probably coming from a similar place but I gotta wrap my head a bit to understand heh

One subtype of guy I really appreciate is when one unique member of a guy-type happens to join your party. For some reason the first one to come to mind was Legion from Mass Effect (visually distinguishable from the rest of the Geth guys by the bit of Shepard’s armor they incorporated), though I guess the Paper Mario series probably most prolifically features said subtype. Let’s see, what else…Mog in FF6? Vivi in FF9? Robo in Chrono Trigger?

little war guys from advance wars

@[deleted] Do they appear in DNF Duel? Why did they focus so much on character classes rather than that cool bestiary? I’d play an overconfident goblin.

Almost done (I hope…) with Xenoblade 3 and gotta say I always love seeing Tirkin, Gulkin and Chilkin pop up as regular goons in those games. I chortled at the XB3 sidequest in which you benevolently help one Tirkin family, complete with an emotional ending, these big dumb birds are people too yada yada, after my team had slaughtered about 97% of that world’s Tirkin population for the previous 110 hours.
