When there is a Type of Guy

I like the Big Guys

Debblun nearly pushed Bub & Bob into the type of guy category, but they’re more like Mario & Luigi, plus Wario.

mostly unrelated to type of guydom, cute story about renting Bust A Move 99 from Blockbuster while in 2nd grade, which revolves around Debblun:

Details I had a prominent experience with Bust A Move 99 for N64 in the second grade, with Debblun. It was another one of those "most nonlocalized japanese anime things I've ever seen or heard in my life to this point", like Bomberman Party Edition. (I think it was one year or just a few months before I got my first goemon game) All the Japanese VA shouting and hyper kawaii stuff going on seemed so mysterious and cool. I had no idea what it was but I was fascinated by it. for example when the character [Twinkle](https://bubblebobble.fandom.com/wiki/Twinkle) says "行きます!!" during her introduction, I interpreted it as something like a digimon's name: "_Ickymon!!_"... that's all I could fathom. I had rented Bust a Move 99 for the N64 that weekend. It was my first exposure to anything in this series or bub & bob canon. That weekend I made it to Debblun in story mode. My palms were sweaty, it felt like I had gotten *so far*. After you defeat him, a character climbs out of Debblun revealing it was a costume all along... My mind was utterly blown. Didn't revisit it for years and years. Of course it turned out to be a much smaller achievement than it had felt at the time. Like fifteen minutes of gameplay. But that felt like hours to my child brain. Maybe it was a longer play session due to how many retries I used and how long the matches went...

Much like “what if this guy was a sexy lady,” the subgenre of Guys which are “what if this guy was Fat” are extremely good.

@treefroggy Yes! Such a type of guy.

:microphone:Thank you, thank you, i’ll be here all night!

Big fan of the Thing-wigle type enemy from Tales of Vesperia

Well not just Vesperia, but the whole Tales series. Shoutouts to my buddy the Polwigle

Round fellas, the lot of them

Monokumas are a type of guy.

@Chopemon I still haven’t played, so they still always remind me of the Usavich guys. They are 100% a type of guy, but it’s a series of animated shorts from JMTV. Technically there is an usavich video game for DS

@chazumaru On a more serious note :

★Street Fighter’s type of guy.

★Mortal Kombat’s type of guy.

★Tekken’s type of guy.

★ KOF’s type of guy.

★ Smash’s type of guy.

★Dragon Ball FighterZ’s type of guy.

@[deleted] just don’t let Vegeta hear you say that

Playing Taito’s Light Bringer today, and there is this type of guy

those higgledy guys from ni no kuni 2, a game I sorta very dislike but I always like A Buncha Guys

I would drop Elebits, but

Ride ze shoopuf?

Started playing Shin Megami Tensei Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoah and the Soulless Army (love to think about Atlus either having one meeting or thirty to hash out the name and whether they have to include the main brand and the sub brand or either) and all the demons in all SMT games (bar the game specific bosses) are types of guys.

Very comforting seeing all these pals turning up in every SMT game. They may not be types of guys in a single game, but across the three thousand different SMT games, they are definitely types of guys.

All the best final fantasy games have weird little guys in them. Love the beavers in FFII.

Pikmin & Patapon are series all about taking a whole army of guys to collect stuff and fight off other types of guys.

One of the few good changes Golden Sun Dark Dawn made was to give each of the elemental djinn unique sprites, giving them all just enough variation to be a type of guy
