@“giogadi”#p120238 After the first chunk of the demo you unlock a sort of second mini demo that focuses more on the combat. They introduce some cool systems, give you some fun toys to play with that interact with each other in fun ways. That first bit definitely has the usual early JRPG situation where you have so few options at the start of the game that the optimal strategy is very, very simple though.

Picked up my copy but am feeling weirdly nervous about starting it. I get this feeling whenever I feel like I reallllllly want to like a new game but there‘s some nagging feeling telling me that I won’t.

I can‘t believe the day is finally here. I got a notification that it’s waiting for me at home. It‘s Clive o’clock somewhere. I can‘t believe it’s been 7 years since Versus XIII came out, and I legitimately have no idea what to expect from this one. After playing like 3/4 of the way through FFV, which is such a joyous and smooth turn-based adventure, I hope I don‘t get whiplash getting into a more tonally-serious action game. I sure hope there wasn’t a Kingsglaive-esque feature length film I needed to watch for the story beforehand!!!
I hope it takes place in the Fabula Nova Crystallis universe!
I played an hour or so past the point where the demo left off earlier today. It’s really beautiful and is reminding me more and more of FFXII as far as tone and the setting/environments. I’m liking it more than I thought I would! I didn’t want to put it down to get ready for work.

I hate to take part in internet parlance, but it's so true that "final fantasy hits differently". From the opening, I could draw comparisons to Nier Automata and Tales of Arise, but once the story pulled back a bit and went in a decidedly slow-paced direction where we just kinda sat with the characters for a bit... I knew we are in for something with a much higher ambition and depth even then those amazing games.
The flavor text in this game is fantastic. This is one of the rare games that makes me want to read all the log entries and location descriptions. This alone is making me want to give FFXIV another shot. Yoshi-P took us to flavortown 🙏
Anyway my dualshock controller died so I had to quit as soon as I >!took control of ~~Larsa~~
wondering how far into the game the second half of the demo is, cuz I‘m feeling like it’s in like the early third or so? like, does the game mechanics and combat continue to evolve from that point on or what
