Does anyone know a good site/resource to find a local group, particularly if I'm looking to find people to play a specific and/or more niche game with?
mostly just want to google [your area] fighting games and dig around through there for fb groups and discords. youāre unlikely to find a group for a specific game unless itās a big new release like SF or Tekken, but youāll probably find groups of people who play multiple games and might be down to play whatever youāre into.
I picked up Street Fighter 6 on a Cyber Monday deal and played a little today. Iāll withhold most of my comments until I dig a little deeper into the game, but thereās one that can't wait:
As someone who has sort of ashamedly loved Capcom vs SNK 2 on GameCube for its EO controls for decades, it's kind of crazy to see SF6's modern controls getting so much praise. On the one hand, I'm like yes, people finally are willing to give this a chance and more people will find a way to enjoy this game! On the other hand, I'm feeling like "why is SF6 getting so much credit here? Other games have been doing this for a while now." I know it's ultimately a minor thing; it's just odd to me how quickly people changed their opinion on this. Maybe I'm being weird about it. Maybe it's just my long-standing willingness to die on any GameCube-shaped hill I can find.
Anyway, so far the game is pretty cool.
Killer Instinctās tenth anniversary patch just released! And as a result Steamās concurrent player count is currently higher than ever before, hovering around 750 during peak hours.
I've never played _KI_ myself so I'm definitely gonna try to get in some matches before it dies down.
KI is great! Here's hoping the community gets a long term shot in the arm from the patch. Maybe now the time is finally right for this extremely underrated game to get a little traction.
Rumble Fish is getting a new release later this month called Rumble Fish +. I understand that the version of Rumble Fish 2 that came out last (?) year has improved so Iām hoping that this doesnāt release in a sorry state.
I havenāt bought the Guilty Gear Strive third character pass because I have fallen off playing it and when I do pick it up, everyone is better than me. Iām a scrub that likes casual knock about fightin' and I have bad execution.
HOWEVER Elphelt Valentine looks fantastic I think I might pull the trigger on the DLC

Iāve always loved the Street Fighter series but Iāve never gotten into Super Turbo because I never really had friends to play it with andā¦every single player mode I've played of it is like oppressively difficult?
Usually I can beat most normal fighting games on medium difficulty or I'll just put it on easy if I'm looking to have a more chill time. ST won't cooperate, though.
SF 30th Anniversary Collection keeps the busted American arcade version so of course it's horribly unfair.
I've also tried the PS1 version (via SF Collection ) and the Dreamcast version (Super SF II X for Matching Service). Both of them are slightly better, but still by the 3rd or 4th opponent, it's just wrecking me, even with the difficulty set to 1 star.
So, this is where I ask you all for help: Is there any good version of Super Turbo single player that's not stupidly hard?
@ārearnakedwindowā#p143494 weāre there many changes in difficulty between Super and Super Turbo? I played a lot of Super on the Mega Drive as a kid and donāt remember it being that hard. Nowadays the single player in fighting games from that area work me over. So maybe I was better as a kid or maybe the MD version of Super was reasonable?
Related, is the Japanese version of the 30th collection easier? I keep trying to play the games in it but almost immediately hit a wall.

Yeah, that's definitely a good thought. I think you're right that the 16-bit home ports tended to have more balanced difficulty. Street Fighter II Turbo on the SNES lacks a few things (supers, Fei Long/T. Hawk/Dee Jay/Cammy), but the difficulty seems fair when you lower it. So maybe that's my best bet even though it's not exactly Super Turbo.
UPDATE: Played through SF2 Turbo on SNES and the difficulty is very reasonable. It's a fun game and holds up very well. Maybe the best SNES fighting game? I think for SF 2, the Turbo is more important than the Super because the speed and fluidity keep everything feeling fresh and modern whereas Super's updated roster and graphics are cool but not as essential as Turbo's speed. So it's a good compromise. But I would love to one day learn to appreciate Super Turbo. Maybe I'll just need to (*gasp*) make some friends.

Ultra Street Fighter II on Nintendo Switch, especially if you play with Evil Ryu or Violent Ken.
The game is rebalanced and the easier difficulty levels are legitimately easy. Remember you can revert to the original dot graphics in the gameās options.~~should~~
@āChopemonā#p143492 I bought the season 3 pass.
God this game is so goddamn good. Insane levels of love and craft shown to everything. I'm just mashing around in arcade with Elphelt and having a wonderful time.

Anyone playing that new GBVS? I stayed up for the PC launch like a freak and Iām having a lottt of fun with it. The training mode comes with surprisingly in-depth character guides, including a list of practical combos for each character and nifty little graphics that suggest which moves to use at each range. Personally I donāt mind pulling up a wiki on my phone for this kinda thing, but for players new to fighting games, who haven't learned how to learn yet, these guides are huge.
Also, PSA, I guess: this game has a _Killer Instinct_-style F2P version with a rotating roster of four characters. So if you're on the fence about blowing $50 on a fighting game when _Tekken_ comes out next month (!!!) or you planned to skip this game altogether, give it a try! Cuz why not
The arcade version Super Turboās difficulty is insane! You are not alone. Itās the dumbest thing ever. If I want to play a single player version of SF I never go back to arcade ST.
Regular Super wasnāt like that. If you had fun playing Turbo on SNES try Super SF II on SNES. It obviously has the New Challengers but you can also adjust the speed. You can make it play ST fast if you want. The difficulty on that version should be comparable to the other SNES ports.
Thereās also ST Revival on GBA. Itās been 20 years but I donāt recall it being hard.
The super turbo talk reminded me that thereās a place in town that has a weird, modded/ripoff cab of World Warrior. The arcade mode was brutal, until I realized that you could meaty air throw. Seriously, it was the most game breaking thing Iāve ever experienced in a fighting game.
All you had to do was jump over a downed opponent and they would teleport to you for the throw as soon as you pressed heavy punch
